Tuesday, September 22, 2009. I can definitely envision how a focus group could be very useful to the research project I'm thinking about. For instance, I'm interested in how teachers respond to students' writing in online courses v. face-t0-face classrooms. Does the kind of feedback teachers provide differ depending on the "space"? Or "What kinds of feedback are best for student learning? I would want to ask questions that would lead to more details about how and in which ways teachers respond to students.

Question 1-What special circumstances or considerations should be given to research done in an about online spaces (i.e. informed consent of "subjects", ethics, access, etc.)? I think it is important to get consent of "participants" even when they don't know they are participants. Yes, this could make research much, much more difficult.
