Rachel's Blatherings

The Five of Us, Spring 2014. Well, it's been a Really. Long. Time since I last posted. But the blogging juices are flowing and I have something I want to share. So, here I am. This story started last winter. With the song Oceans. Let me walk upon the waters. Wherever You would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander. And my faith will be made stronger. In the presence of my Savior. As dearly as it was costing Pastor Saeed and his family? In March, I attended a women's retreat with my churc...

Rachel's Blatherings: Reprogramming and Running Away

http://rachelsblatherings.blogspot.com/2011/07/reprogramming-and-running-away.html

The Five of Us, Spring 2014. Reprogramming and Running Away. I gave myself a break on Monday and did nearly nothing regarding housework and child-training. But, Tuesday was a new day and a return to routine and our typical standards of behavior. So, after about 5 weeks of doling out threats with nothing to back them up, I told the bigs Monday night that they'd used up all their warnings and that consequences would be swift on Tuesday. Where are you going? Hrmph I don't know." Grumbled. So what." Angry.

But, you know, it's just so much easier to pop a couple sentences on facebook than to blog several paragraphs here. 1 bear skin carpet. 1 desk with scientist stuff on it. 10 frames with snake on it. 1 snake skin curtin. Rachel's Blatherings: On the Shelf

http://rachelsblatherings.blogspot.com/2012/05/on-shelf.html

The Five of Us, Spring 2014. Well, it didn't work out that way and only Pea joined the family. If you've read the backlogs, or know us well, you know that left an open space in our family that we greatly desired to be filled. Well, it took much longer than we anticipated, but Pup finally joined the fam. While there aren't 8 years between him and his sibs, it's close to that amount of separation. A few months ago, our local LifeLine Pregnancy Center put out a call for volunteers. I called to find out ...

Rachel's Blatherings: Visit with AB

http://rachelsblatherings.blogspot.com/2011/08/visit-with-ab.html

The Five of Us, Spring 2014. After church on Sunday, Pup and I drove down to GA to meet with AB for our 6 month visit. Lucky for me, Pup slept most of the way and traveled very. Well He's such a good baby! Always looking to save money where possible, I had booked us in a cheapy motel. It was only for one night- how bad could it be, right? Just to be clear: I need to get two cribs, right? Uh, yeah. Seems that way. With a collapsible crib from, oh, say, 7 decades ago? After feeding Pup, we went to Olive Ga...

Five to Eight: 11/01/2008 - 12/01/2008

http://fivetoeight.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 25, 2008. I was reading another mom's blog the other day and she had a picture of Dick and Jane.with her children all probably cozied around her reading it. Her quote was "I was made for this". Frankly.when I'm reading Dick and Jane with Marie I want to tear my hair out. I don't think I was made for this. (I AM doing this because I think it's the right thing to do now.but it isn't easy! How can the word Spot.in the very next sentence.be Fluff? And you were a REAL teacher! Afterwards the...

Archive for July, 2006. Life lesson number one-hundred and three. July 27, 2006. Meremen came home from summer school the other day with a band-aid on her finger — wrapped in white-medical tape. The teacher said, “Meremen had to go to the clinic today . . . because at recess . . . well, she tried to catch a bee.”. I smiled and looked at Meremen who was trying to keep her lips sealed while fighting to hold back a grin. “Why in the world would you try to catch a bee, baby? On the importance of a name.

Archive for August, 2006. The importance of a name. August 9, 2006. When we met her (by photograph via email), her name was Meremen. Now, although I called it the Biblical-based-idea, I am not trying to imply that the Bible instructs us to rename our adoptive children, but there is certainly great Biblical significance in re-naming. There are also instances where children from other countries need to be renamed for cultural and social reasons. For the staunch dissenters, here is an example: some of o...

Sunday, December 13, 2009. We love the snow and Matthias has been wanting to get out and build a snowman so we got all bundled up this afternoon and went out to play. The snow was really hard to pack so it took us really long to make this tiny snowman. Matthias loved it and I guess that's what counts. December 14, 2009 at 3:52 PM. 6 Blessings: Football, Friends, Food

http://oursixblessings.blogspot.com/2008/10/football-friends-food.html

Saturday, October 4, 2008. Football, Friends, Food. After 2 very lazy boring days with no school, today was nicely busy with many friends. First, my awesome family let me sleep in until 10 something. One of the girls had a friend stay over and because my window was open all night to listen to the rain, I awoke to the joyful sounds of 7 kids laughing and playing on the trampoline outside my window. MUSIC to my ears - they were all laughing and no arguing - AMAZING! Sounds like you had a busy, busy day!

The culinary world is a large one, so let's have fun exploring. Sunday, April 14, 2013. I've been ordering from Peapod alot lately. I've been having really good success with the quality of their produce, meat, and seafood. So when I saw they had a special on mussels I ordered some up and when looking for a healthy recipe to make with them. I decided on Mussel Chowder I found. It was only for about 10 minutes though so everything worked out fine. The house smelled wonderful just from sauteing the leeks!
