Tuesday, November 25, 2008. I was reading another mom's blog the other day and she had a picture of Dick and Jane.with her children all probably cozied around her reading it. Her quote was "I was made for this". Frankly.when I'm reading Dick and Jane with Marie I want to tear my hair out. I don't think I was made for this. (I AM doing this because I think it's the right thing to do now.but it isn't easy! How can the word Spot.in the very next sentence.be Fluff? And you were a REAL teacher! Afterwards the...

Archive for July, 2006. Life lesson number one-hundred and three. July 27, 2006. Meremen came home from summer school the other day with a band-aid on her finger — wrapped in white-medical tape. The teacher said, “Meremen had to go to the clinic today . . . because at recess . . . well, she tried to catch a bee.”. I smiled and looked at Meremen who was trying to keep her lips sealed while fighting to hold back a grin. “Why in the world would you try to catch a bee, baby? On the importance of a name.

Archive for August, 2006. The importance of a name. August 9, 2006. When we met her (by photograph via email), her name was Meremen. Now, although I called it the Biblical-based-idea, I am not trying to imply that the Bible instructs us to rename our adoptive children, but there is certainly great Biblical significance in re-naming. There are also instances where children from other countries need to be renamed for cultural and social reasons. For the staunch dissenters, here is an example: some of o...

Sunday, December 13, 2009. We love the snow and Matthias has been wanting to get out and build a snowman so we got all bundled up this afternoon and went out to play. 6 Blessings: Football, Friends, Food
http://oursixblessings.blogspot.com/2008/10/football-friends-food.html
Saturday, October 4, 2008. Football, Friends, Food. After 2 very lazy boring days with no school, today was nicely busy with many friends. First, my awesome family let me sleep in until 10 something. One of the girls had a friend stay over and because my window was open all night to listen to the rain, I awoke to the joyful sounds of 7 kids laughing and playing on the trampoline outside my window. MUSIC to my ears - they were all laughing and no arguing - AMAZING! Sounds like you had a busy, busy day!
