Hillside Renovation: June 2010
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 13 June 2010. 13 The bricklayers are back. Another day's work from the bricklayers sees the rear extension almost up to wall plate. Meanwhile, I get to work on the existing side elevation. The old fascia boards and windows are removed, and an opening is made for a new window. Any loose brickwork is removed and the joints are raked out ready for repointing. Next week should see the return of the scaffolders for the final lift. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 13 The bricklayers are back.

Hillside Renovation: 29. Hillside Resurrection
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2014/12/29-hillside-resurrection.html
Monday, 1 December 2014. It's been a couple of years since my last post but, believe it or not, the renovation of Hillside is still ongoing. Christmases have come and gone, two children have arrived on the scene but one thing has remained constant. Pedestrian progress on the house. The squeaky old floorboards are removed and replaced by nice new flat glued 'n' screwed flooring. The upstairs looks huge when you don't have any internal walls. The timber arrives for the upstairs stud walling.

Hillside Renovation: September 2012
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, 16 September 2012. 27 The garage gets a roof. It's been a while since my last post but the weather has been pretty awful and progress rather slow. However, at least the new garage is now weathertight. The first of the roof joists are installed, each one notched to suit. The levels on the existing house are all over the place. The roof design is pretty straightforward so I can manufacture the trusses on site. The first of the trusses is fixed in place for the brickies to build the gable.

Hillside Renovation: May 2011
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Friday, 27 May 2011. After around 8 months of working every hour available in my day job, finally I can take a bit of time out to get things moving on the ho use project. Next on the agenda is a shiny new garage. Although as usual, first there's some demolition to do. This is how things looked last year. As you can see, the old glass roofed garage is looking a bit shabby. As well as leaking like a sieve. That's my dad modelling a length of 4"x3". First job is to remove that leaking roof.

Hillside Renovation: 30. Update number two
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2014/12/30-update-number-two.html
Monday, 8 December 2014. 30 Update number two. In this episode, the external walls are battened and insulated, the first fix electrics and plumbing go in and the walls are plastered. External walls are battened ready to receive insulation. One day this will be the lounge. False wall to house all the smart tv gadgetry. Kitchen gets some insulation. Quite a lot of cables. Master bedroom getting the insulation treatment. That will be a little roof terrace out through the door when we are finished.

Hillside Renovation: July 2012
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 12 July 2012. 26 A Garage is Born. Finally the bricklayers arrive and work can start on the garage. Unfortunately this is as far as they get on day one before the heavens open. Some progress at last. The wet weather is making the site a mess. But finally the brickwork is complete. And the building inspectors can verify the work is up to standard. Now off to the timber merchant to get some wood for the roof. Monday, 2 July 2012. 25 Back to it. A shiny new steel lintel is installed. 25 Back to it.

Hillside Renovation: 31. A spot of gardening.
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2014/12/31-spot-of-gardening.html
Monday, 15 December 2014. 31 A spot of gardening. Back in the summer, while the builders were busy making a mess in the house, I thought it might be a good time to investigate the garden. It's a bit of a jungle when viewed from above. However, a weekend's work lopping and shredding. Starts to clear a path. Another weekend reveals that the garden doesn't just go on for ever. And off we go to the tip. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 30 Update number two. 31 A spot of gardening. Greening the Coach House.

Hillside Renovation: October 2012
http://hillside-renovation.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 16 October 2012. 28 The roof tiles arrive. After several weeks of waiting, a couple of phone calls to the manufacturer's sales rep and the roof tiles finally put in an appearance. Tiles are installed in no time at all. Stepped lead flashing is formed to suit. The ridge tiles complete the new garage roof. It may never rain again.
