The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard | A Little Ray of Sunshine

https://rachelvollmer.wordpress.com/2013/11/22/the-parable-of-the-workers-in-the-vineyard

A Little Ray of Sunshine. The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard. November 22, 2013. For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard. About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ So they went. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

2013 Takeaways | A Little Ray of Sunshine

https://rachelvollmer.wordpress.com/2014/01/01/2013-takeaways

A Little Ray of Sunshine. January 1, 2014. Wow, life after UCLA has kept me busy! In a time of the year where myriad suggestions on goal-setting, resolutions, and achieving your dreams abound with varying degrees of success and usefulness, I thought it might be a better use of time to reflect on what actually worked for me in 2013. In the interest of time, I tried to pick three big lessons that would be useful for everyone. Here are my top 3 takeaways from 2013. 2 Successful job hunts take a LONG time.

A Little Ray of Sunshine. Encouragement from Unexpected Places. July 26, 2013. It’s been a rough week. I lost my research job, the full-time job hunt is stagnating, and the end of the month is approaching. Needless to say, I was happy to enjoy any legitimate encouragement anywhere I could find it. And as usual, the Lord provided abundantly in ways that I didn’t expect. I’m going to highlight three. 8220;Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? 8220;Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget...

A Little Ray of Sunshine. October 18, 2013. 8220;It won’t be painless. It won’t be quick. But God will use this mess for good. Don’t be foolish or naive. But don’t despair either. With God’s help, you’ll get through this.”. You’ll Get Through This: Hope and Help for Turbulent Times. If you’re an American evangelical Christian, chances are you’ve at least heard of Max Lucado, if not read one of his many, many books. You’ll Get Through This. You’ll Get Through This. The Key to Success: Grit (?) | A Little Ray of Sunshine

A Little Ray of Sunshine. The Key to Success: Grit (? January 9, 2014. Well worth six and a half minutes of your day. Wisdom from Will Smith. 3 thoughts on “The Key to Success: Grit (? January 11, 2014 at 12:11 am. This really was worth six and a half minutes of my day — thanks! Grit is something I sense you have. I doubt you were born with it or that it was easy to learn. But if you can do it, so can I. Failure is not a permanent condition. Talent doesn’t make you gritty. Thank you very much for sharing!

A Little Ray of Sunshine | An Exploration of the Abundant Life After Graduation

A Little Ray of Sunshine. Wisdom from Will Smith. February 5, 2014. The Pursuit of Happyness. And then I found this gem. Will Smith actually has quite a bit of wisdom to dispense, but as someone who frequently struggles with comparing myself and subsequently feeling inadequate, I thought this quote in particular was worth sharing. Leben in Deutschland

Monday, July 27, 2009. Mom and grandma come to europe. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. N Sunday we both looked at each other with concerned expressions; we could hear the rain hitting the window outside. But after having paid the train and hostel, we would only be saving 8.40 Euros by not going to Luxembourg. We thought it would be worth the trek and in fact, it was! Wednesday, July 1, 2009. We were so worn out that we spent the last hour with our feet in a fountain while we watch children play with the water.
