It finally got so bad I started asking around about it. I knew about a method to test ActionMailer. I recently got a new computer and reinstalled Ubuntu and found out that my old post on how to install the latest gVim in Hardy Heron didn't work anymore. This is what I did to install the latest one. Thanks godlygeek. Sudo apt-get build-dep vim. Sudo apt-get install build-essential devscripts fakeroot dpkg-dev. Cd upstream/patches; python get patches.py). Dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -b.

Rails Hacks and Other Stuff. Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Stars and acts as rateable. I recently wanted to implement a star system in Rails. I looked at this rateable plugin. And followed this tutorial to create the stars. It wasn't as cut and dried as I had hoped, so here is the code I used. It's pretty complete. Disclaimer: I used haml and sass and if you don't, you should still be able to understand the code. In case you don't use sass, here's the generated CSS that you get from the sass file.

Well, Vim breaks when using rails.vim in Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. Took me a few days to decide to actually try and fix it and not downgrade back down to Gutsy. That was my starting point to find the fix. 1) Download and install the latest version of Vim. 2) Install all the plugins and scripts again.
