Rain in the Desert

Rain in the Desert. Friday, July 18, 2014. Missions. I need you. I just read my last post which was almost two years ago. Once again, I am home from a journey across the world. My feelings are much the same. One day I'm in Malaybalay with dear friends and spending time in a community that is filled with much poverty, and the next day I'm back in the United States. How is it possible that both worlds exist? I can't. I won't. Tata and two of her girls. Not one of us is ever forgotten by Him. In case you di...

Rain in the Desert: July 2012

http://www.raininthedessert.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Rain in the Desert. Sunday, July 29, 2012. A week on Camiguin. My favorite mission partner and I waiting at the port for the boat. I arrived on Camiguin Island on Saturday, June 23 and stayed for one week. I arrived with my mission team and the members of the SSME (Summer School of Missionary Evangelism). I didn’t know what to expect; I had only seen pictures and heard stories about this little Island. Once we arrived at the port, Father Joe was waiting for us. It had been a long day of traveling. I coul...

Rain in the Desert: November 2011

http://www.raininthedessert.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Rain in the Desert. Thursday, November 10, 2011. My Mexican Family Vacation. About three weeks ago our friends Linda and Juan invited Erika and I to go to Guadalajara for five days because Juan had a retreat to go to. When they invited us I kind of brushed it off and didn’t really want to go. About a week or so ago Juan and Linda also invited To. Ño and Mari and all the kids to go as well. 8217;t think they would go either, but to my surprise on this day, November 2, at five in the morning we loaded up.

Rain in the Desert. Saturday, October 15, 2011. Lord, conform my will to Yours always. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations." Matthew 28:19a Go,bring Jesus to others! Sunday, October 9, 2011. We ran into the house, made Sergio sit down and immediately began to pray. In a short while he was better again and this time his spell didn't turn into a full blown seizure. Praise you Jesus! Again, I am blown away by the strength of the people we have the privilege of serving. Sunday, October 2, 2011.

M&M Missionary Sisters: Our Confirmation

http://maddieandmeredith.blogspot.com/2013/05/our-confirmation.html

God speaks to all of us.We just have to listen. Saturday, May 4, 2013. I know this is a little late in being posted, but I thought I should write about it anyway, as this was an important part of our lives. For our additional preparation, we did study the Fruits and Gifts of the Holy Spirit, what our responsibilities as adult Catholics are, etc. The three of us also made good Confessions before we started on our trip. And after all this, I felt completely prepared for our coming Confirmation. I'm also ex...

God speaks to all of us.We just have to listen. Friday, September 23, 2011. Sometimes the “big” things are easier than the “small” things. For example, it would probably be easier for me to die for my faith than to die to myself every day by washing the dishes after lunch! So one Wednesday, I asked the Lord to give me suffering, He gave me a TON of dishes to wash. Should share that letter at the Mass. “Are you. Still going to share, too? Also, it will be more powerful from a young person since we will be...

God speaks to all of us.We just have to listen. Sunday, August 26, 2012. Prayers- None Too Small. Lately, I've been noticing how much more our family prays now compared to life before missions. Or maybe it's not that we pray any more or less, it's that now we have even more faith that God will answer our prayers. I've always. They come up instead of waiting for later. The answer is because He loves us. When our brothers are about to watch a movie and the DVD player doesn't work, we pray over it. And we a...

When we got back to Malaybalay, we only had a week to get the new house ready for our family and the Eckstine family to live in together. We were so happy when they arrived! God speaks to all of us.We just have to listen. Thursday, April 14, 2011. A Praise Report from Meredith! 8221; I asked. 8220;Yes. Ricky has changed a lot. He used to say a lot of bad words but now I don't even hear him say them around our house (their families live in the same house).”. Then she said that his dad is not Catholic and is away right now. His mother is Catholic, so she gave Ricky advice to talk to his father about it when he comes back. 8220;Wow, that's good! 8221; I said. This is a big deal!

Christmas Carolers after dark, 9 days of 4am masses leading up to Christmas, an artificial tree, and the distance from family. Yet these served to create an amazing Christmas! Thursday, August 23, 2012. The world operates on a basis of faith. Since we were born, we were to believe in our parents' words for the rights and wrongs. Then in the school, we had to believe in the syllabus that was taught by the teachers. And in the society, purchasing goods, paying for services and almost anything that involves another individual, works on the principle of faith. Just like they never know that in the end their happiness is just another filthy lie that is toying with their own faith.
