As a 3rd generation owner of my families bridal salon, I have had the honor of helping brides from all over Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee for the past 30 years find the perfect wedding gown for their special day. I had no idea that my trip to Haiti in the spring of 2009, would change my path forever. With 50 wedding gowns, veil, and tiaras in tow, what I thought would be a 1 time trip to help put together a big celebration for the people in Northwest Haiti, has turned into my true purpose in life.

While most Haitians live in absolute poverty, earning $1 per day, they may never be able to save for even the smallest wedding. Married Haitians often earn a higher wage, which allows them to better care for their family. Living together outside of marriage brings many barriers for the women in Haiti. If they have children, they may not sing in the choir, take communion or be baptized. They believe they are separated from God. Giving the women a sense of belonging, being a part of a family.
