Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child: Taking Responsibility

http://raisingadisabledchild.blogspot.com/2014/02/taking-responsibility.html

Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child. Raising a daughter with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. Monday, February 17, 2014. During the daily rush of helping Whitney get dressed, off to school on time and countless other things, it's easy to set aside teaching important lessons. Melanie is better than I am about taking advantage of teaching moments. So when I see something new it often comes as a surprise. Even when it's been something Melanie has been working on for some time. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child: Unlucky Break

http://raisingadisabledchild.blogspot.com/2005/08/unlucky-break.html

Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child. Raising a daughter with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. Thursday, August 04, 2005. A few months ago the developmental specialists encouraged my wife and I to have our daughter stand next to the couch in order to help her feel independent when standing up and to gain strength in her legs and trunk. I hung up and rushed from work to the hospital. Once the the orthopedic surgeon saw my daughter's X-Rays he told us there was no need to insert pins or operate. What a relief!

Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child: Stressed About Birthday Shopping

http://raisingadisabledchild.blogspot.com/2014/01/stressed-about-birthday-shopping.html

Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child. Raising a daughter with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Stressed About Birthday Shopping. Whitney doesn't really care for typical age appropriate play. She really doesn't care about her clothes or hair. Although she does like books. So maybe there's an idea there. I'll have to think about this decision a bit more. But time is running out. Someone please tell me that gift giving for her will get easier someday! Labels: Meanderings from Dad.

Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child: Willing Protector

http://raisingadisabledchild.blogspot.com/2014/03/willing-protector.html

Adventures in Raising a Disabled Child. Raising a daughter with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Three years after Whitney was born with all of her complications and challenges, Melanie and I welcomed a son to our family. We named him Liam in the hope that someday he can help be a protector for his older sister. Liam is a short form of William or Wilhelm, which means willing protector in German. The Mickelsen's Monkeyshines: The Many Faces

http://jamesandalicia.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-many-faces.html

Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Mean face. (These is her favorite face to make.). Siri is well known for the faces she pulls. She most often likes do make them while going to the bathroom, during dinner, and during prayers. She is also a great copy cat and a mischief maker. She always has to be doing what Lizzy is doing. I will have two great bakers one day. She enjoys making giant messes for the sake of making a giant mess. Clearly I need to take more pictures of my other children. We're a happy family!

The Mickelsen's Monkeyshines: Lizzy Turns 5!

http://jamesandalicia.blogspot.com/2014/01/lizzy-turns-5.html

Monday, January 20, 2014. Even though I've had a month to get used to the idea, I still can't believe my little Lizzy Girl is 5 years old. I am the lamest mom that ever existed, and I have very few pictures from her big day. I have even less of Christmas, so yeah, I'm lame. She opened her gifts first thing in the morning, like 6:45 in the morning. We wanted Logan to be part of the festivities before he had to go to school. I'm sorry for myself! But, it's what makes you you. You will go into in-depth deta...

The Hill Family: March 2013

Colby and Dani.Happily Ever After Since February 7, 1997. Monday, March 25, 2013. Where did we come from? I am not heavily into ancestry or family history. However, I am always fascinated by "stories of old.". I love hearing about the places my family came from, how they lived, what they did, etc. Were they anything like me? Did they hate anything dealing with mathematics? Did they love reading and languages? Did they hate spiders? I am always intrigued by their names. Did they have a nickname? I will po...

The Hill Family: SWEEP!!!!!!!

http://danicohill.blogspot.com/2012/10/sweep.html

Colby and Dani.Happily Ever After Since February 7, 1997. Thursday, October 18, 2012. What a fantastic series! The New York Yankees. That's right, swept. As in the Tigers beat them 4 games straight. The Tigers starting pitchers only allowed the Yankees 2 runs in the whole entire 4 game series. The Tigers dealt the Yankees their first sweep in the ALCS since. The Detroit Tigers rock! I cannot wait for the World Series! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ive got your back, Big Bird. . .

Zoe's 1p36 Blog: Two Great Days

http://zoes1p36blog.blogspot.com/2015/06/two-great-days.html

Saturday, June 13, 2015. Ailsa and Zoe on Ailsa's Recital Day. I may have mentioned before, once or twice or a hundred times, that my girls have a special bond. Ailsa was so excited that Zoe got out hospital last Saturday- the day before Ailsa's recital. All week Ailsa was worried Zoe would not be able to make it. We planned on asking for a day pass.or just taking Zoe out of hospital against orders if it came to that! It was great to have that day as a family. It was an awesome day! Bubbles- always a fav...

Monday, May 16, 2011. So at 32 weeks, I think we are ready! I am sure that it seems a bit early to be all ready, but I'd rather be all done, relaxed than stressing out about getting things done. I've got a doctor's appointment on Thursday. So I guess our only news is that we've decided on names. We love them! Also, here are some pictures of the boys room. Enjoy! Raising My ADHD Child – From Despair To Hope

Raising My ADHD Child. From Despair To Hope. New School Year, New Challenges. August 30, 2016. It was a rough beginning. Lala refused to do work on Saturday and on Sunday got into a fight with his brother. I lost it on both days. His Chinese was definitely getting better. 303 Grams Of Carbohydrates In That Giant Chocolate Easter Bunny. April 19, 2014. My type one child is capable of Easter candy the same as a non-type one child. Does this mean we will let him eat that chocolate bunny in one sitting? No, but he could if he wanted to. He would just need the appropriate amount of insulin = 3 units per his Insulin:Carbohydrate ratio. But that would not have ever happened even before diagnosis. Raising a Dream Seeker

March 28, 2014. Today I was catching up with a client I only see about once a year. Since our last meeting she has given birth to her third child and my oldest child has recently become engaged. After all the news was shared she asked me, “You seem to have done well with your kids. Any parenting advice you would share with me? 8220;The power of 25! 8221; I answered. Is it truly all that important that they hit the door and make for the shower, the gym clothes, the dance bag or computer? January 30, 2014.
