Raising Fig: November 2013

http://raisingfig.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 28, 2013. We are so close to meeting our little guy now and yet I am still struggling to find the words. The words that are big enough, deep enough, meaningful enough to say thank you. I've joked that thank you is something you say when you are handed a drink or passed the salt. But this? How do you say thank you for this? I am struggling to find the thank you big enough to say. You have changed me. You have forever altered my definition of love. You have shown me Jesus. We are eternal...

Raising Fig: May 2014

http://raisingfig.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 29, 2014. It is almost as hard to hold up three fingers as it is to describe your dynamic personality at three years old. Snuggling is among your favorite things to do and by snuggling I mean trying to get a close as physically possible to daddy or mommy. You will push your head up into our necks so that every part of you is against us. It is so sweet and terribly uncomfortable, but we absolutely love it. This picture speaks perfectly to the way you feel about G. You are fiercely attached t...

Raising Fig: I remember

http://raisingfig.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-remember.html

Friday, July 24, 2015. My memory is not that strong. sometimes I struggle with the fact that it can fail me so easily and so often. But then somethings I just remember. it comes back. a memory so etched it feels as if I couldn't possibly forget. I remember how He was faithful when I was faithless. I remember visions of standing at a funeral surrounded by our friends and family. I remember the words, the thoughts, the breath being sucked right out of me. I remember the pain of it all. The world looked dif...

Raising Fig: in a moment

http://raisingfig.blogspot.com/2014/09/in-moment.html

Thursday, September 04, 2014. Sometimes during the day I have these moments. they are just that. brief little moments. During them it is almost like time isn't moving and the moment is soaking in completely. It could be a sweet moment of my boys laughing at each other. It could be the absolute craziness of the moment that sends it into slow motion, etching it in my mind. Sometimes the contrast of these moments in a day takes my breath and gives me this perspective that can be otherwise hard to find.

Life in La La's Land: A New Year, A New Room!

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-new-year-new-room.html

Saturday, January 4, 2014. A New Year, A New Room! But for all the space we do have, we weren't using it properly. I'm a firm believer in functionality and purpose - it's not the size of the space, but how you use it that makes the difference. Having said that, I am probably IKEA's dream consumer. Here is a rough sketch of our downstairs that I made through the free online program, Floorplanner. So things got shifted around. We sold off one of the tables and chairs, moved the dining set from the stud...

Life in La La's Land: Greatest Hits

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/p/greatest-hits.html

I've been blogging since 2007 so if you're new here, you've got a lot to catch up on. I'll give you the Cliff Notes version to get you up to speed. I started it all off here. By swearing off all men for six months. I blame this guy. For a lot of the frustration and agony I had while single and dating. I used to drink and party A LOT and struggled balancing the working-partying lifestyle. I traveled to Europe with a friend of mine from high school and we had the ultimate Eurotrip. I dated some REAL winners.

Life in La La's Land: September 2013

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 29, 2013. I spent Saturday morning holding my godson, watching my daughter play with his older sister while I chatted with their mother, Kate. In a moment of freedom, Kate ran downstairs to grab milk and oranges for the girls while I snuggled Sam on the couch. While she was gone, I realized what had just happened and I teared up. I had taken care of a little boy who wasn't mine by blood, or even by marriage. Just the very special baby of a very special friend. And thank you, my dear Kat...

Life in La La's Land: Purgatory

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2014/01/purgatory.html

Friday, January 3, 2014. I am in baby purgatory. Something must be done about this. Craig is pretty firm on the "no more babies" idea for a myriad of reasons - a little bit financial (two years away from NO car payments and NO day-care! And a lot bit just the overall comfort level of our life right now (no sleepless nights, easy to get up and go, no diapers or bottles). And for the most part I am right there with him. But then there is the stuff in our pseudo-attic. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Life in La La's Land: Prayers for My Daughter

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013/12/prayers-for-my-daughter.html

Sunday, December 15, 2013. Prayers for My Daughter. Like any mother, I pray on a daily basis for my daughter. And like any mother, my gut prayer is for an all-encompassing protection of her life and safety. For some sort of promise from God that she will always be well cared for, well treated and well loved. But I know better. So instead of setting myself up for disappointment and frustration with God (Why didn't you protect her? Were you not listening to me? I must instead change my prayers. I must pray...

Life in La La's Land: August 2013

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 30, 2013. Not once this week (even with volleyball try-outs going on) did I ever regret or second-guess my decision. Nope. There is no doubt in my mind or heart that I made the right decision, not just for my family but for ME. I love being in the classroom. I love having my own space. I love being a teacher. But I also love wearing "real" clothes to work.and that's the most important thing, obviously. So without further ado, let the teacher fashion show commence. Shoes: $40 at DSW. All we...

Life in La La's Land: October 2013

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 11, 2013. The topic this week at Bible Study touched on a word that is near and dear to my heart. A word that encompasses both my greatest asset and my Achilles heel. Something that has created all my success but also catapulted me to the brink of self-destruction. Perfection.the pursuit of being perfect. Imagine my surprise as other members of my small group scoffed at the idea of striving for perfection. The idea of having everything in their life "just so" never occurred to me. When Sh...

Life in La La's Land: Soldier on

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2014/02/soldier-on.html

Sunday, February 9, 2014. Hey Momma in the aisle at Target,. Yeah, you.the one with the cute brunette bob and the round (but tired), blue eyes. The one with the oversized green sweatshirt, who I caught holding your hands to your forehead while speaking tersely to your husband as he tried to calm you down. You seemed stressed and a little overwhelmed. I wish you the loveliest of peaceful Sunday afternoons.because God knows, we all need it. Soldier on, Momma. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Life in La La's Land: January 2014

http://lifeinlalasland.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 18, 2014. Life is funny in the way it works sometimes. Or perhaps I should mention that it's funny how God leaves out little bread crumbs for us that lead us to bigger realizations. The light pink sleeper that she wore her first night home. My mother and I swaddled her together, placed her in the bassinet and stared, both of us giddy and emotional from the presence of the next generation of women in our family. Saturday, January 4, 2014. A New Year, A New Room! So with this idea of func...

Raising Fearless Women

Who are significant, compassionate, and always authentic. January 25th, 2014. I recently watched Cameron Herold talk about raising entrepreneurs and what he says makes a lot of sense! If you want creative children, innovative children, children who are not afraid to “think outside the box”, let them create their own play. Today, I have fearless women as adults who are not afraid to dream, and dare, and stand up to workplace injustice. What can you do to create entrepreneurial spirits in your daughters?

Raising Filipino Boys

Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Homeschoolers Are a Fraternity of Sort. If ever there is any consolation in the challenges we encounter in homeschooling our kids, it is the beauty that we see in the last 7 years, particularly back to the time when it all began, 2 years further back in time. Our son during a homeschoolers common activity back in June 2009. We were homeschooling our son for a year already when this photo was taken. Links to this post. Labels: Catholic Filipino Academy.
