Friday, May 20, 2011. A View from Germany. Do those things seem unimportant, or something? Well, those have been some of the major things that I noticed. The other thing that I've noticed is the bikes: they are everywhere and they have lights and generators. That in itself is pretty much awesome to me- a bit of a dream come true to see really. I guess I was a little surprised at how little was different, or at least how little felt. On the Waldweg outside of Hamburg. Light through the trees.

More Through that service, I met some great people like Gary and Jan, Mike and Rebecca, and Stew and his family, who gave me places to stay, great food, and maybe most importantly, good conversation. I also happened occasionally onto good people who welcomed me into their homes, like Glenn and Trutti, and these were some of the nicest because they were completely unexpected. The only thing was that for me, it wasn't the end of the trip. In Newcomb, NY.

Winter is still going strong here, I'm used to the mild and short, almost non-existent California winters where you can still ride your bike on trails, or at least dirt roads. I tried going on a ride today, but came across more snow and mud than is allotted for an enjoyable ride. So it looks like we'll have to continue heading south for fun. Photos of the recent past.
