July | 2011 | NICOLE IN PRAGUE

https://nicoleerkis.wordpress.com/2011/07

Monthly Archives: July 2011. Balkan Adventure, pt. 2. July 8, 2011. On day 2 we got up early and took a taxi to the bus station, starting our long, unplanned journey that lasted the rest of the day. The first leg was a 6 hour bus ride through unexpectedly beautiful Bosnia to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Look out from the Dubrovnik bus station. Sitting in the park. Herceg Novi bus station. We even had a garden! Had to stand on a really high ledge to see through the trees. It was worth it. After dinner we wandered ...

Balkan Adventure, pt. 2 →. Balkan Adventure, pt. 1. June 6, 2011. On May 21st, Leslie and I began a grand adventure in the Balkans, starting off in Sarajevo with nothing planned but our return flight home on the 25th. Completely improvised, the chronology of our trip went like this:. May 21 – arrive in Sarajevo. May 22 – bus to Dubrovnik, Croatia, then bus to Herceg Novi, Montenegro. May 23 – bus back to Dubrovnik. May 24 – bus back to Sarajevo. May 25 – leave Sarajevo. Is that a stupid question? You can...

Warsaw + Parents Visit | NICOLE IN PRAGUE

https://nicoleerkis.wordpress.com/2011/05/22/warsaw-parents-visit

May 22, 2011. I left Prague on April 7th to meet my parents in Warsaw where we were staying for just under 2 days. To get there, I took my first ever overnight train ride! There were three stacked beds so close together you can't sit up on them. You know, the classic arches or decorative patterns or general bright lighting and feeling of openness. This is Warsaw’s ceiling, and this picture does it some favors (I didn’t take it):. The Palace of Culture and Science, a garish gift from Stalin. Warszawa Cent...

Food | NICOLE IN PRAGUE

https://nicoleerkis.wordpress.com/2011/05/18/food-2

Warsaw Parents Visit →. May 18, 2011. And another post about food. Mmmm. Well, sometimes. In Jerome House, where I lived (! They provided us with breakfast but then we were on our own for the rest of the meals. We had a kitchen but it wasn’t a great kitchen, especially when you have seven-ish people using one fridge, two burners, and one sink. If you recall my picture of the day of the monster fridge… yeah. The kitchen on the first day aka before it became a disaster area. Only made it 5 times, honest!

It was the last time I'd drive out of her driveway. Like so many times before, when she was sitting in the passenger seat. On our road trips back home. Links to this post. All cou...

ramblingdaisies – Random rambles about random things

Random rambles about random things. April 7, 2017. April 7, 2017. Dollops of creamy, delicious ice-cream topped on crisp, graceful cones is a mouth-watering sight as well as thought. The Rambling Decorum

Sunday, January 9, 2011. 10thDotM: Webster Pg 983. The octopus met the turtle on the edge of an island where the cliff hangs over the surf . It allows the unlikely duo to converse closely. They meet there quite frequently. The octopus extended a tentacle up to the turtle, something bright and brassy gleaming against his dull, slimy skin. The turtle moves forward to the outcropping of rock. His head tilts, small eyes working tirelessly to mentally remove the obstacle from the treasure. Frantic splashing s...
