An epiphany, me: October 2009
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 26, 2009. Hold it right there fella! Well in my recent travels and interactions with people in and outside the state I have come across some very warped perceiptions of goan women . especially young goan women. Just because we are passionate about life and live with no regrets doesnt mean we have no morals or boundaries , we may give into the moment and not look back but that doesn't make us any less respectful than the next . An epiphany, me: October 2008
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 28, 2008. A tribute to a man who changed the world. I was fortunate enough to have met in my lifetime a man who exemplified the quote "Be the change you want to see in the world." You may call me an idealist but I say this is possible because I saw it , everyday for almost two years. He did the very best he could within the boundaries that life chose to place on him, he tried to always be the best man he could, at all times. A jack of all trades and master of most. An epiphany, me: April 2009
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 11, 2009. Is Goa losing its culture? A few thousands of years ago. The earth was populated by nothing other than dinosaurs and foliage, but today the very existence of the dinosaurs seems surreal. The dinosaurs just vanished into thin air, wiped out. A question that is raised often is what really is Goan culture? Fados and spanish guitars or a tiatr? We can not say that we are losing our culture , its merely being redefined. Links to this post. An epiphany, me: On the verge of vegetarianism
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2012/04/on-verge-of-vegetarianism.html
Saturday, April 28, 2012. On the verge of vegetarianism. I am Goan. Being vegetarian is extremely difficult, if not impossible. There are many homes and restaurants that will proudly serve you any meat you could possibly desire, except for well maybe dog meat, Goans like dogs too much. Wild Boar, Venison, Veal, Cat, Rabbit, Frog, well you get the picture don’t you. I grew up pointing at cows and calling them beef. I, Desiree Alemao, feel a strong urge to stop eating meat. Yes, you read right. Are the hen...

An epiphany, me: August 2014
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 31, 2014. A dinner date with social media. A little something I wrote recently, for a little something. The Indian food bloggers did exist before this wave; however we were about to see the emergence of many more as the influencers who got used to joys of instant sharing of their gorgeous food images their followers, and later joined the blogger force. Some are worth their salt, (no pun intended) and some are just regular folk armed with technology. Instagram has made it easy for everyone ...

An epiphany, me: January 2014
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 5, 2014. 2013: A year in retrospect. Okay then, let's get rid of my writers block, or at least my excuse for not having written a stitch in the last year. Towards the end of the blissful ten months that were IIJNM, I had some tough choices to make. Did I want to be a journalist that took part in the shaping of history, fought hard to get her stories and bylines, or was I one that documented the process? What have I got to lose? In all honesty, no! So here's to a year that has been one for...

An epiphany, me: January 2010
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 23, 2010. My head begins to throb, and I can feel the contents of my stomach rise in my throat. I see a door, slowly I try to pull myself toward it my body groaning as it moved. It swirls and fades. Now I realize, it sinks in that it was us in the car, she was coming with me to the hospital, where they would take care of me . Pangs of fear grip me with visions of us in a happier place, with happier people. It swirls it fades. So much for my last drop. Links to this post. Panjim, Goa, India.

An epiphany, me: February 2012
http://waysideramblings.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 27, 2012. The dawn of the theocratic age. As globalization accelerates and the barriers between countries fade, countries tend to cling to their culture and traditions. This has led to the rampant growth of fundamentalism across the world. Constant watchfulness and paranoia in governments has led to acts like SOPA, PIPA and CCTVs on every corner. It is turning states into cowards that bow down to fear and are way too willing to give up freedom in the name of security. The Jaipur police a...
