Ramblings of a Wife and Mommy

Wednesday, August 5, 2015. 5 Ways I Plan to Enjoy the Homeschool Year. This coming school year, I will have three kids in my official homeschool. All of them will need my help and undivided attention in just about every subject. Factor that in with the fact that I have a four year old little boy who is obsessed with all things loud, and a two year old who sees it as his main mission in life to destroy everything in sight. Oh, and still be a loving wife and mama. I decided to evaluate what I actually enjoy.

Ramblings of a Wife and Mommy: Vacations, Family Pictures, and Princess Elsa

http://ramblingsofamommy-sahm.blogspot.com/2015/05/vacations-family-pictures-and-princess.html

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Vacations, Family Pictures, and Princess Elsa. Two weeks ago, Erik, the kids, and I took a family vacation down to Florida. It was our first family vacation we had ever taken "just" the seven of us, and we had such a good time(and now that it's over I think I can finally admit how surprised I am over how smooth it all went.). I had no presumptions that this picture would turn out well, but I wanted to have something to prove that we'd all been at the beach. Getting all the ki...

Ramblings of a Wife and Mommy: Morning Rituals

http://ramblingsofamommy-sahm.blogspot.com/2013/11/morning-rituals.html

Tuesday, November 5, 2013. I'm a creature of habit. Almost every morning since I've been a Christian(about 10 years) I have woken up early, brewed a cup of strong coffee, and spent time reading the Word. For a long time this was my most treasured time in my day. It felt wonderful to soak up the Word, pray for the day and the people in my life, and then I was ready to face the day with my children. It's amazing how we can turn something so wonderful into something so ugly, isn't it? I would still love to ...

Ramblings of a Wife and Mommy: 14 days of Dinner Inspiration

http://ramblingsofamommy-sahm.blogspot.com/2015/08/14-day-of-dinner-inspiration.html

Monday, August 3, 2015. 14 days of Dinner Inspiration. Does anyone else ever feel like dinner time sneaks up on you? Or as if you’re just making the same things over and. Recently, I’ve been feeling as though I’m in a cooking rut, so to speak. And while I have a pinterest board full of recipe ideas, most of them, when I start to really look at the recipes, sound a little too time intensive for my season of life. Read the rest over at Raising Homemakers. Monday, August 03, 2015. Subscribe in a reader.

Ramblings of a Wife and Mommy: Surviving a 12 hour road trip(with no DVDS)

http://ramblingsofamommy-sahm.blogspot.com/2015/07/surviving-12-hour-road-tripwith-no-dvds.html

Sunday, July 5, 2015. Surviving a 12 hour road trip(with no DVDS). Last fall, when Erik and I started telling people we were taking the kids down to Florida. We were met with a variety of reactions. We were told everything from,"That's so awesome! You guys will have such a great time! To the surprised, slightly bewildered questions of,"You mean.you're going to take five kids to Florida? Like alone, and stuff? But, probably, the most common question we were asked. Their van was perfec. T for our trip.

Faith and Nutrition: May 2011

http://faithandnutrition.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Have you ever noticed how you can eat a big meal, feel very content, but yet still want something sweet at the end? I have not been able to find a good answer for why this happens, but I am going to keep looking. Many non-scientific sources will blame it on growing up in a household that always had something sweet after a meal. Food historians think it originated from ancient medical ideas regarding digestion (which I honestly don't think we should count out). Links to this post.

Friday, June 17, 2011. Weekend in the South. Two weeks ago, Michael and I headed down to Nashville for my friend Brooke's wedding and to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. It was a beautiful wedding! My heart needed to see them. We love each other. Rockin on the porch. Links to this post. Monday, June 13, 2011. Eat This Now: Pineapple! Saturday, July 23, 2011. The Cost of Delaying Marriage" Article Review. Please know that I am not trying to be offensive to anyone by posting these articles. I think they are interesting. Because of the way that I felt growing up, the messages I heard and, even after I became a believer in college, continued to hear. This is a side of the feminist message that you rarely hear. I encourage you to read both articles in their entirety. The Cost of Delaying Marriage. 8220;For everyone else, the call is to ma...

Faith and Nutrition: September 2011

http://faithandnutrition.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 15, 2011. Two of the oft-heard complaints about eating fruits and vegetables are:. 8220;I get bored with eating fruits and vegetables.”. 8220;It is too expensive to eat healthy.”. One of the easiest ways to help solve both of these problems is to “eat for the seasons”. By paying attention to what produce is available at what times, I make sure that I don’t get bored because it’s changing every 2 to 3 months. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Faith and Nutrition: Fruit On An Empty Stomach

http://faithandnutrition.blogspot.com/2011/08/fruit-on-empty-stomach.html

Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Fruit On An Empty Stomach. As a dietitian, I often get questions about nutrition claims that people hear on television or read on the internet. One such claim that has been popping up lately is “Is it bad to eat fruit with other foods? This question seems to mainly come from an email forward that is attributed to Dr. Oz which claims: “Fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach.”. The article further goes on to say:. Second, this email is so widespread that The New York Times.

Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Preparing for Birth: Resources. My how time flies. I knew I wouldn’t be a good blogger. Not only am I not 27 weeks pregnant anymore, but my son is now 22 weeks old. Something I didn’t really talk about much on here while I was pregnant were my (tentative) plans for the birth. I say tentative because I knew that ultimately the Lord was in control. I also learned very early that it’s best not to tell people that you want to have a natural birth. 8220;Should we augment labor?

Faith and Nutrition: November 2011

http://faithandnutrition.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 23, 2011. I wanted to clear up a common misunderstanding that I’ve heard many times in my office over the past few months. I’ve heard this so many times that I even started to question it myself one day. 8220;I bake the [frozen] French fries instead of frying them.”. Meaning, they are healthy because I’m eating “baked” French fries instead of fried French fries. Here’s the problem:. Frozen French fries are pre-fried. Are your frozen French fries already fried? It really does not take ...

You can't really tell, but these are frozen grapes. I wouldn't call them a craving because I really haven't had any real food cravings, but they have been a healthy, satisfying snack over the past few weeks! Our goal for next year is to run it. Faith and Nutrition: Exercise During Pregnancy: Any Suggestions?

http://faithandnutrition.blogspot.com/2012/01/exercise-during-pregnancy-any.html

Monday, January 30, 2012. Exercise During Pregnancy: Any Suggestions? I'm looking for new exercise ideas. What did you do during pregnancy? I have been walking a lot more instead of doing the videos the past few weeks. Anyone have any other good videos they like to do during pregnancy? It's been nice to have that as an option with the cold weather and the SUPER PACKED gym since it's January. Seriously, I've been avoiding the gym like the plague. Although, I am happy that people are exercising!

Ramblings of a modern day pharisee

Sunday, July 28, 2013. Life (a right to choose). Ok, so first I gave the reason of faith. Secondly, lets talk about it as a reason for life. Little known in all the talk over Texas is that North Dakota passed a law banning abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be heard, which in a lot of pregnancies can be the 6th week. Unfortunately it is being held up in court right now because a judge deemed it unconstitutional. Seriously? Did she not read the constitution? The right to life and liberty? I read a book...

Monday, August 3, 2015. Whirlwind Vacations {Nebraska to Colorado}. This has been the craziest summer yet. We are living with another family of 6, and when we're not home we've been on the road traveling. Our biggest road trip yet happened a few weeks ago. After the service in NE we headed to Kansas City for the 4th of July festivities, and visited World's of Fun on the way. It's always such a great time to play on the water and spend time with the cousins. We then headed back to CO to drop off my kids w...

Ramblings about faith, hope and love. Prayer for my Lost Boy. August 4, 2015. Do you ever feel like when you take two steps forward, you. Fall three or five steps or even a whole block backwards? This weekend has been like that for us, as an entire family. Each of us have struggled with something. There have been some really great things too.
