Ramblings of an Outside Artist: August 2009

http://ramblingsofanoutsideartist.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 13, 2009. An Evening by the Lake. My sister, who is an extremely talented knitter, wanted my daughter to model her latest creation; a gorgeous shawl. It flows beautifully as you can see. The yarn is made from (of all materials) bamboo! So off we went to the lake to take the photos. I had the chance to use my new Canon, which I love! I also got some shots of a few old buildings in the quaint town of Ackworth. I love the way the wind is blowing her dress. Look at the details in the shawl.

Ramblings of an Outside Artist: February 2010

http://ramblingsofanoutsideartist.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 06, 2010. Drawing is a frame of mind, a loving embrace, if you will. (Susan Avishai). What can be more magical than picking up a pencil and drawing something beautiful? Drew this portrait of a girl. It was one of her assignments from the online Portrait Workshop she is currently taking under the auspicious direction of mixed-media artist Misty Mawn. She claims I am capable of doing the same if I just practice. Really? I don’t know but I am willing. Links to this post. I can talk myself...

Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Fun with Photo Editing. Have you seen the commercial with the cute little 4 year old who uploads her photos and “makes them better” with the click of the mouse? Well I have been having an equal amount of fun and success with the latest version of Picasa 3 (Goggle’s free photo editing program). I love the simplicity of this program and with the click of the mouse I can make my photos better as well! And sooo much more…stay tuned! Links to this post. Saturday, February 07, 2009.

Ramblings of an Outside Artist: June 2009

http://ramblingsofanoutsideartist.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 28, 2009. Monet is in Town! To check out the Monet's Water Lillies. Collection now on exhibit at the High Museum of Art. Going on "art" trips is an excellent way to keep your own creative juices flowing. Today I took a break from writing and worked on some wonderful jewelry pieces. I was very happy with my hand-wired clasps. I did not realize how much fun they could be to make. I love the idea of using totally original clasps in my designs! They look so.french! Fun with watercolor and pastels.

Ramblings of an Outside Artist: Gathering Materials

http://ramblingsofanoutsideartist.blogspot.com/2010/07/gathering-materials.html

Monday, July 26, 2010. I like the juxtaposition of the hot and cold temperatures produced by resin and burning treatment. Dimensional Collage Pendant- effect created by combining elements such as seed pods, shells, decorative papers, text, crackle medium and watercolor paint. It looks like your pendants turned out nice. I have to come by and see them : ). Love all the layers, beautiful work! Sorry to be a newbie, but what is the adhesive (and I assume the glossy stuff) on the third one down? Feartured It...

http://paganodesignworks.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 10, 2011. My latest refashion project. Super easy! I found this Peruvian alpaca sweater for just a few dollars at the thrift store. Alpaca is soft and warm and I always buy the Peruvian sweaters when I find them. Originally, it had long tan ribbed sleeves, kind of pilly and stretched out. There was also a zipper up the front. A little too "walk the mall" style. hehehe. A fashionable knit vest. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Desert modern, with an industrial, vintage twist.

I've just noticed that I'm not keeping up with posting links to the things I've got for sale at the shop. Most remiss of me, really. These are two of the necklaces available right now:. I love love love these fishies! There's some kind of symbolism, surely, in wearing fish made out of ocean jasper, don't you think? This one has chiang hai "jade" (that is to say, marble! I cannot really tell you how good I felt when I won the bracelet from Kathy. And I sold my first piece (woot! Look what I have! I was mo...

Saturday, June 11, 2011. Getting busy making new pieces for my nearly empty jewelry shop! Love the contrast between icy cool stones and soft sweater wool on this first one. Chalcedony and quartz druzy. I've been saving this lovely sterling Tibetan pendant for far too long. I LOVE how it looks with the red and turquoise recycled sweater bits! It feels ethnic, bohemian and vintage-y but at the same time, is very new and unusual. Did this sell already? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Adventures in Sw...

These gals personalities are just as exuberant as their recycled jewelry and their well suited re-purposed displays! Vintage library cards are re-purposed as display cards for new brooches. (Pinned to a dress form near the entrance to the booth.). Anything with holes in it can hang earrings. The bird is a whimsical touch! Antlers are perfect for chains.

Tuesday, March 30, 2010. I just created this fabulous cuff bracelet using recycled sweater felt. The colors range from deep purple through various blues to a soft green and back again. Feels really lightweight but is very dramatic. Lots of sophisticated color schemes are popping to mind for this design! I've got both silver and gold toned bracelets. Let me know what you think!
