A Connecticut Yankee in Robert E. Lee's Back Yard: July 2014
http://yankinyard.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
A Connecticut Yankee in Robert E. Lee's Back Yard. Sunday, July 20, 2014. Up, Up and Away! Home there when I was growing up there. I also remember reading Anne Morrow Lindbergh's diaries while I was in high school. It tries to dispel the romantic images that make up our current cultural memory of World War I. The reality was a far cry from Snoopy and the Red Baron! It could be a spider," the boy said. Absolutely perfect. One entire floor of the museum was closed for renovation, and the exhibits a...I'm n...

Barbara's Own: May 28, 2013

Personal insights, reflections, frustrations, passions, and sometimes turbulent rantings. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. CLOSED. FINISHED. DONE. GRACE EPISCOPAL CHURCH - NORWALK, CT. The doors are closed. The congregation dispersed. Grace Church is dissolved. No more. I left behind those doors the hurts and heartbreak and frustrations of the closing; the strife; the nasty. No more. Gone. Left behind. Personal insights, reflections, frustrations, passions, and sometimes turbulent rantings. Thursday, April 18, 2013. Mrs Robin in going to try again. Maybe it isn't the same Mrs. Robin. Maybe it is. The faith that it takes to start building this nest, four feet off the ground right next to our back stairs. WOW! Is faith. Some might call it instinct. Perhaps faith is instinctive. Do you love Lent Madness? Of course you do! Then why not promote it on your own website or blog. People in your parish would quite enjoy having an enjoyable competition to cheer and jeer, as opposed to focusing only on your scintillating program exploring the late medieval theories of atonement (as viewed through the lens of continental scholasticism). Here are two graphics you can use to promote Lent Madness. If you want something else, contact Scott or Tim. And here’s the code for the right one:. One d...

A Connecticut Yankee in Robert E. Lee's Back Yard: Hiking Along the Potomac
http://yankinyard.blogspot.com/2014/07/hiking-along-potomac.html
A Connecticut Yankee in Robert E. Lee's Back Yard. Sunday, July 6, 2014. Hiking Along the Potomac. Which is up the George Washington Memorial Parkway from Alexandria. Who knew I'd become so much of an outdoor person! I still sit with a good book an play the flute, but I've really been enjoying exploring the marshes and the trails in parks around the metro DC area. A Connecticut Yankee in Robert E. Lee's Back Yard. Sunday, May 18, 2014. A River Runs Through It. We could hear the river as soon as we got out of the car, and this is the falls looked like when we got to the overlooks. You read descriptions of raging rivers, and you see the video that accompanies news reports, but nothing really prepares you for actually seeing it in person. And this is about as close as I care to get to a raging river! A small oasis of calm in the rocks of one of the observation areas.

A Connecticut Yankee in Robert E. Lee's Back Yard: January 2013
http://yankinyard.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
A Connecticut Yankee in Robert E. Lee's Back Yard. Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Three days in the Albuquerque area and we know our way around pretty well, only occasionally needing Marsha, Kellee's GPS. I'm not sure why we have this need to name the disembodied voices on our electronic gadgets. Does it make us feel less dominated by our technology? Or do we name it because it speaks? We're transitioning from play time to work time. Forma Board members and conference participants arrived throughout the ...

Personal insights, reflections, frustrations, passions, and sometimes turbulent rantings. Monday, February 6, 2012. This portrait was painted by my late Aunt Mary from a picture of me taken by my dad more than seventy years ago. This afghan was recently created by my sister, Jacq. Both works of art that I shall always cherish. Both works of art from a mastery of color and design. I feel very special to be the recipient of such special talents. Links to this post.
