Academic Wasteland: In the office
http://academic-wasteland.blogspot.com/2008/06/in-office.html
The stories and adventures of a wandering PhD candidate trying to reach the holy grail of intellectual achievement - the doctoral dissertation. -photo by Paul Ryan. Monday, June 23, 2008. After loafing my way through San Diego coffee houses for the last two weeks I find myself back in my windowless basement adjunct office. And, I'm happy to be here. I love the campus during the summer, it is quiet, cool, and there are no lines for ordering coffee! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Who doesn't love roses.

Science of staying awake. Still reeling a bit. December 28, 2011. I got the job offer! Now I need clothes to work in an office. Naturally I have brightly colored tents to choose from, as I am larger than a size 12. We’ll see how that works out. I’ll sleep during the night, work during the day, have weekends free and no longer have to negotiate with drunk people. Amazing! One response to “ Still reeling a bit. April 8, 2016 at 8:57 am. Seriously?: August 2008

I have always made fun of bloggers. And yet, here I am. I am a Ph.D. student and I study political rhetoric - which might mean I'm boring. I'm not sure anymore. My friends tell me they can't wait until I have children because it will be awesome to meet a three year old who not only comprehends but can employ sarcasm. Whatever. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Places where people talk about interesting things. Oohscary phantoms and professors. Politics - delicious, delicious politics. I study pol...

8230;fronting the boundaries…. Monthly Archives: June 2009. June 28, 2009. Have to take a little break from North Texas 23. June 18, 2009. I first got on Facebook two years ago, supposedly for work. I created a more-or-less professional profile (using my work location) to see if this would be a way to communicate with students at my university. I’ve also found that a number of my old friends in the Seattle area (where I lived for 21 years, until 2006) are also on Facebook, originally to keep in tou...

The stories and adventures of a wandering PhD candidate trying to reach the holy grail of intellectual achievement - the doctoral dissertation. -photo by Paul Ryan. Tuesday, July 8, 2008. I've been on hiatus from blogging. There have been many things occupying my brain and my time that I have not had the time or the desire to blog. However, many interesting things have been happening. I am working on many different projects right now. I am currently editing a 44 page article for the journal Octopus.

The stories and adventures of a wandering PhD candidate trying to reach the holy grail of intellectual achievement - the doctoral dissertation. -photo by Paul Ryan. Tuesday, August 5, 2008. I detect a soft breeze. I am sitting here in my living room trying to feel a breeze. It isn't easy working in the heat. It especially isn't easy working in stale air, and so I am waiting for a breeze that will give me the support I need to write. Great to hear the class is going so well! August 6, 2008 at 9:03 AM.

This blog was originally created during a summer workshop. It was supposed to be a way for me to stimulate learning and build relationships with my students. After reading a few blogs by my friends, I decided to modify it into a blog about my kids and family. Help get someone a mammogram! Make a pretty flake. FEEDJIT Live Traffic Feed. B and the boy. Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. Looking forward to tomorrow. A run-in with a homeless man. We have a winner! Maybe it runs in the family? Burning down the house.
