The community of Winside was recognized as a 2010-11 Read Aloud Community by Read Aloud Nebraska and was the winner of a drawing for a Read Aloud Party. $100 was given to sponsor this party. Children were invited to the party that featured a DJ from US92 radio station reading books aloud. Special cakes were shared and 20 books were given away! Read Aloud Nebraska 2015.
