As it’s the London marathon on Sunday I thought I would send out my notes from the first preach I ever gave a few years ago at my church. It was on the day of the Hastings Half marathon and I wanted to remind all those watching the race that all Christians are in a race, whether you are a sporty person or not. It is based on the passage in Hebrews 12 v 1. Let’s look at the first part of the verse; Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses”. So what does that mean?

The existence of God part 3. This is now the third week in our huge subject on the existence of God. As I have mentioned previously, each argument builds upon each other, until we have a very compelling case for God’s existence. We have already looked at the Cosmological argument (everything, including the universe has a cause). Then last week we looked at the argument for the existence of God based on the evidence of the amazing and intricate design of the universe and the things within it. D If there i...

This page is a celebration of how good God is and what He has done in our lives. I would love for you to share how God has touched your life and blessed you, it could be a healing or an encouragement from the bible or any way you have received ‘blessings’. Discipleship 7 helpful points. I recently wrote about why discipleship is so important and why we need to be a follower of Jesus before we can disciple others. Following on from that I have listed out below 7 points which will help make us disciples of Jesus;. April 14, 2012. Discipleship Are you following Jesus? Apart from our personal relationship with Jesus, our primary calling as Christians is to make disciples, but do we know what that means and more importantly have we ever done it? April 11, 2012.

When I Disagree with the Bible (part 2). This week we will look at some reasons why people disagree with the Bible. Sometimes the most loving thing to do is to bring discipline as correction. We have a tendency to seriously underestimate the holiness of God. We can be naturally accommodating of sin, especially ones we consider small. God is not like that; He is supremely holy and therefore cannot stand sin in any measure. Certain behaviours and attitudes as right or wrong, no matter what society says .

We come this week to a subject that really doesn’t make sense to the natural mind. Why would anyone want to ‘not eat’? Surely God has provided food for us to enjoy and satisfy our hunger, not to punish our bodies? In our minds we can probably imagine religious fanatics following a strict ascetic lifestyle. These people can have rather unhealthy masochistic tendencies. Definitely not normal. It’s important firstly to see what fasting is not. So why do we fast? There is a fascinating link between fasting a...

I think though, the problem is not science but scientism, which are subtly different. Scientism says we should only believe what can be scientifically proven. But when you think about it that statement itself cannot be scientifically proven so you are in problems from the start. April 17, 2015. 2 Responses to “Science v Christianity”. Does God change His mind? For those of you who have been following my blog for the past few weeks, you will know that I have been working through 2 Kings as I am reading through the bible in a year. I recently came across a passage which seems to suggest that God changes His mind. A lot of the passages we read in the bible can be quite confusing and can seem contradictory, but if we take scripture as a whole we can find a way through the confusion. 1 God knows all things. 2 God does not change His mind.

Have you ever wondered why Christians can be so different from each other? So which is right? Should we all be formal and respectful or should we be ‘free’ and do whatever we like (as long it’s not spoken against specifically in the bible). The trouble was, the people who didn’t want to eat that same meat did not have the same clear conscience. Paul didn’t say to those with a weak conscience come on now, don’t listen to your conscience; you are free now, here, have a steak! Or am I judging someone becaus...
