Read by the Herd. Shepherd Family Reading Blog (An on-line supplement to our monthly newsletter, Word to the Herd). Thursday, August 16, 2007. Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Golden) * *. 499 pages. This is the story of Sayuri, a Japanese "entertainer", called a geisha. Shepherd Family News: Art and cold weather

http://bandkshepherd.blogspot.com/2013/07/art-and-cold-weather.html

Sunday, July 28, 2013. Art and cold weather. Last week the kids and I tried to go see a free magic show that was happening during winter holiday. We got there too late to get a seat, but we enjoyed seeing the nifty scrap metal sculptures outside. This was a polka-dot covered living room set-up under black light. All of our pictures are pretty awful since you can't use flash and we have a simple snapshot camera. Every visitor to the museum gets a sheet of stickers so they can add to the art of this room.

Shepherd Family News: July 2013

http://bandkshepherd.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Drawing to a close. Over the last few days I've thought about some of the things I'm excited to be going back to, and some things I am sad to leave behind. Here are a few, in random order. 11 things I look forward to:. 1 My own bed.2. A hot shower. Warm just doesn't cut it. (Although I'm sure this won't seem quite as desirable when I'm back in 95 degree weather.). 3 Peanut butter, whole wheat, Mexican food. 4 Sam's Club and my van trunk (i.e. once a week grocery trips). We went ...

Shepherd Family News: Estancia El Ombú

http://bandkshepherd.blogspot.com/2013/07/estancia-el-ombu.html

Monday, July 29, 2013. This weekend we spent a night at Estancia El Ombú. It is a working ranch that now also does tourism. We had such a great time! It started early on Friday with a subway ride, a 2-hour double-decker bus ride, then a 15 minute taxi ride. The kids thought sitting on the top level of the bus was pretty neat. The front porch of the main building. A gaucho (cowboy) did a short horse demonstration for us. It was slow and graceful, almost like a dance with his horse. Chad and Kristin Anselmo.

Saturday, April 21, 2012. Wow Watch out fashion world. Here comes Ashley. Thursday, April 19, 2012. The way back wasn't as exciting, and since it left early in the morning Colby and Ashley slept half the time. Dallin got attached to three toy cars form the Cars movie throughout the trip and would hardly let go of them. The day after we arrived we borrowed some camping stuff from cousins and made a two day trip up to the Grand Canyon. It was freezing! And it was beautiful. Trying out the bikes. We all lov...

Friday, August 24, 2012. Or library hosted many kid shows and programs over the summer. This one was a hit. Yes, it's a boa constrictor, folks. Thursday, August 23, 2012. Our annual 4th of July neighborhood parade. We've been gone the last 2 years for it, so the kids were super excited for it this year. Sienna was planning her decorations for a month. You should see this kid throw a Frisbee. Better than any of the other kids. He does everything with his right hand, except throw a disc. Jason and Lisa Bell.

You have to watch this one first, in order to understand the hilarity of the second one. (And no, there was no baby involved in the second one). Sunday, July 15, 2012. Welcome to our new son, Paul Bryan Shepherd! I just LOVE the tummy-to-tummy, head under the chin snuggle. Welcome to the family, Paul! Friday, July 6, 2012. What happened in June? What happened in June? Our girls participated in a dance/craft "camp" hosted by some teenagers from church. They learned some Irish dance steps and made some nifty crafts and snacks. Mom and Dad celebrated their 10 year anniversary. Mom decided to try on her wedding dress for the occasion. Thursday, September 13, 2012. A day at the bowling alley. Look at that form! Sienna usually didn't use the ball ramp. just happened to catch it on camera. Colby usually DID throw the ball instead of roll it.). This shower curtain village (drawn with colored sharpies) provided hours of entertainment soon after Paul was born so Mom could take a nap. The Leaning Tower of Shepherds! A book tunnel. Sometimes we sacrifice cleanliness for happy kids. Not sometimes. Most of the time. Wednesday, September 12, 2012.

Stuff I've Read/Watched/Heard | A blog to help my ailing memory

Stuff I've Read/Watched/Heard. A blog to help my ailing memory. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. January 13, 2012. A novel charting the trials and tribulations between the families and inhabitants of Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights, told via an old maid, Elly Dean, who was intimate with both. Having newly acquired a Kindle, I search for free books to download. Wuthering Heights was one of them. I was curious, so I downloaded it and started reading. I knew nothing about it.
