Reader's Corner: Facebook Addiction
http://reader-readingcorner.blogspot.com/2009/04/facebook-addiction.html
Monday, April 27, 2009. So recently I have been reading a lot about Facebook addiction on CNN - mostly because I'm afraid I'm addicted. Not really. While I do check Facebook several times a day, I can go with out it and not have a panic attack. The signs of addiction in this article seem a little silly to me, mostly because they don't really fit me at all. But check it out for yourself. Reader's Corner: February 2009
http://reader-readingcorner.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 23, 2009. Today in my 191 class we discussed newspapers and some current events. We read an editorial about the decline of newspapers due to internet news corporations like Google. Many of my students seemed slightly ignorant to concerns about newspapers. Many of them said that newspapers were more credible than online sources, which I agree with - but they are the same students that use internet research. Monday, February 16, 2009. Reader's Corner: New Ideas
http://reader-readingcorner.blogspot.com/2009/05/new-ideas.html
Wednesday, May 6, 2009. While this semester is winding up, I have been thinking a lot about what I'm going to do for the class I'm teaching next year. Both semesters that I have taught so far I have tried a couple different things for student response, like in-class writings and D2L discussion posts. Neither were very successful in fulfilling the goals that I had for the class, so I'm excited to try something new. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A place to think about teaching technology.
Reader's Corner: January 2009
http://reader-readingcorner.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 26, 2009. So I thought I would use my post tonight to pose a kind of question. More rhetorical than actually needing an answer. Why is blogging more freeing than journaling for a class setting? I would almost feel that students would have an equal amount of sharing their opinions on both as the amount of freedom usually comes from whether or not a peer or instructor is going to read what they are writing. Is it more that blogging is easier because it's computerized? I had quite a range of...

Welcome to blogging in cyberland, the class blog for English 652: Computers, English and Pedagogy. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. A question and an unrelated comment (or how to say nothing in a title). Welcome to blogging in cyberland, the class blog for English 652: Computers, English and Pedagogy. Friday, April 17, 2009. I have used PowerPoint for a long time. I usually create a presentation on a PC because that is what I have at home and my husband has in his office. My husband routinely presents PPTs to various boards he reports to. No problems. I have Windows XP version 5, service pack 3 with MS Office 2003 at home. This computer works well so I haven't tried to update it. With the advent ...When ...

blogging in cyberland: Food and the final
http://cyberlandbloggers.blogspot.com/2009/04/food-and-final.html
Welcome to blogging in cyberland, the class blog for English 652: Computers, English and Pedagogy. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Food and the final. As you know, we decided last night to bring food to share to the final. I'm providing this prompt to jump start conversation about who's going to bring what. But first, a very important question. Do we want to start a bit early - - say at 5:45 - so that people can munch and socialize a bit before presentations begin? Should we decide on here who brings what?

Welcome to blogging in cyberland, the class blog for English 652: Computers, English and Pedagogy. Monday, March 28, 2005. This is from one of togo's MOO slides on "Changing Writing/Changing Writers: The World Wide Web and Collaborative Inquiry in the Classroom":. After the actual construction of the Web page, I asked students to write an analysis paper in which they reflected on the process of describing the space of the university in this format."
