Awkward Librarian: November 2008
http://readingsarah.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Reviews with a dash of self-consciousness. Saturday, November 29, 2008. Never trust anyone over 25. Marcus was a Mary Sue. I mean that's fine, but it was like I was watching a Brad Pitt movie and afterwords I can't remember the name of Brad Pitt's character even though it was the title of the movie because all I could remember was that Brad Pitt was in it. The ending was too abrupt. Like this one. Links to this post. Wednesday, November 26, 2008. Mysterious Benedict Society II: Even More Peril. Ingrid La...

Reviews with a dash of self-consciousness. Thursday, October 30, 2008. Audiobooks for the win. "Looking for Alaska" by John Green. In the spirit of trying new things, I'm bringing over a blogged review from Goodreads, my new favorite site. Rating: 5 of 5 stars. View all my reviews. Yes, I was just a bit gushy there, but so what. I really loved listening to this book and looked forward to getting in my 45 minute commute every day because I felt like I was with friends. Links to this post. So like YA know.

Awkward Librarian: More thoughts on Jane
http://readingsarah.blogspot.com/2011/07/more-thoughts-on-jane.html
Reviews with a dash of self-consciousness. Tuesday, July 26, 2011. More thoughts on Jane. In the original Jane Eyre, Jane leaves Rochester because he is married and it goes against her moral fiber to be with a man who is married. When she runs, she does not want him to find her (at least, IMHO.). This completely alters the message of the original book for me. Though, for once, Jane has one damn flaw. Awkward Librarian: August 2008
http://readingsarah.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Reviews with a dash of self-consciousness. Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Hello dear unlikely but (still) potential readers. I am back from my hiatus. Life was hard there for a little while. I am now officially a librarian in a Northwest suburb of Chicago. Hooray! While I'm walking. I start and finish at least 5 books a week. I really enjoy my job too and I'm really excited about teen read week. A short list of good things I've read lately:. Two books I absolutely loved:. Andrew Davidson-The Gargoyle: I was s...

Awkward Librarian: September 2008
http://readingsarah.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Reviews with a dash of self-consciousness. Friday, September 5, 2008. Stephenie Meyer owns your soul. Okay, Stephenie Meyer doesn't really own any souls. But she does make a lot of money writing about vampires, werewolves, and annoyingly unconfident teenagers. (Seriously Bella, he's too good for you, we get it! As a Teen Services Librarian I spend way too much time thinking about her and her books. Atwater-Rhodes, Amelia “In the Forests of the Night”. Kagesaki, Yuna “Chibi Vampire”. Kerry was like Bella ...

Awkward Librarian: "Jane" is no "Jane Eyre"
http://readingsarah.blogspot.com/2011/07/jane-is-no-jane-eyre.html
Reviews with a dash of self-consciousness. Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Jane" is no "Jane Eyre". My teenaged brain cried on first reading, "Don't blame her for things that are Not Her Fault, and don't act like it would have stopped you from marrying her in the first place." And if you haven't read Wide Sargasso Sea, which is Jane Eyre from Bertha Mason's p.o.v, I suggest you do that to understand what I'm getting at here. And why didn't you twist up the whole novel a little more? Jane is no Jane Eyre. Cookie ...

Awkward Librarian: December 2007
http://readingsarah.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Reviews with a dash of self-consciousness. Saturday, December 22, 2007. Steven Gould. Reflex. New York: Tor, 2004. This book is a sequel to one I never read, 1992's Jumper. And having read Reflex, I don't feel like I need to read Jumper. So much of the story revolves around the characters from the first book all the backstory is explained. And it turns out Jumper is being released on Valentine's Day, 2008 as a movie. Links to this post. New York: New American Library, 2007. Links to this post. Subscribe ...
