Reading Dad's Journals. My beloved Dad kept journals for many years. He died in 2008. And now I have to read them…. September 29, 2013. I haven’t blogged for a couple of months because my life expanded so much that I myself was almost squeezed out. I felt like an A4 page whose margins were set too wide on the formatting palette. The causes of the spread? To say it was a big couple of months is an understatement. Something had to give. And I’m afraid it was you, my dear Blog readers. And Dad’s jou...Now I...

Was that Failure, or just Change? | Reading Dad's Journals

http://readingdadsjournals.com/2013/11/18/was-that-failure-or-just-change

Reading Dad's Journals. My beloved Dad kept journals for many years. He died in 2008. And now I have to read them…. Was that Failure, or just Change? For weeks, my diary had been marked ‘Nov 10- Day of the Dead’. Capital letters, and in pen, not pencil. I told friends about it; tried to cajole my teenage son into going; turned down other invites for that day; I was committed. In a previous post here. And then a voice inside me said ‘No, I’m not doing this today. I want to go home.’. Another deep breath&#...

Birthdays can suck. But not as much as Deathdays. | Reading Dad's Journals

http://readingdadsjournals.com/2013/05/05/birthdays-can-suck-but-not-as-much-as-deathdays

Reading Dad's Journals. My beloved Dad kept journals for many years. He died in 2008. And now I have to read them…. Birthdays can suck. But not as much as Deathdays. It was Dad’s birthday ten days ago, April 24. He would have been 78. As usual, his far-flung family and friends toasted him with a good wine (or organic lemonade at my house), and ate Indian, his favourite food. It’s become a bit of a ritual every year now, as the time passes without him. Occasionally there is a small picnic, with the glitte...

Where there’s a Will, there’s a [less stressful] Way… | Reading Dad's Journals

http://readingdadsjournals.com/2014/12/11/where-theres-a-will-theres-a-less-stressful-way

Reading Dad's Journals. My beloved Dad kept journals for many years. He died in 2008. And now I have to read them…. Where there’s a Will, there’s a [less stressful] Way. Have you made a Will? If you’re under 50, you probably haven’t. According to the NSW government, at least 45% of Australians don’t have a valid Will. In America, it’s over 50%- that’s more than 157 million people! Is that the most common reluctance around Will-writing; that you’ll somehow bring on your death? Aren’t you ever going to die?

Five years since The Day | Reading Dad's Journals

http://readingdadsjournals.com/2013/10/31/five-years-since-the-day

Reading Dad's Journals. My beloved Dad kept journals for many years. He died in 2008. And now I have to read them…. Five years since The Day. Of course, by the time I did, mist had filled my throat, drowning my ears, making it difficult to breathe. Jo’s terrible, simple, trembling sentence, telling me that my Dad had suffered a massive heart attack while bushwalking, was barely audible. I almost didn’t hear the whisper’ And he died.’. I’m leaving a blank here for all the stories I could fill in, but won’t.

I didn't think rain was in the weather forecast for this evening but rain it did. This was enough to put Martin Cairns off riding, an understandable decision, and many thanks to him for sticking around and helping. Thanks also to Gary Baker for timing duties, I was impressed that Gary rode out and back. I guess he didn’t expect the rain either. That stretch up the Assendon valley ...

The Year of Reading Dangerously. The challenge: to read one work of literature (which I have never previously read) every week for one year, without repeating an author. Reading Dangerously | one single gal's adventures in reading

One single gal's adventures in reading. By Rae / Bashful Fashionista. Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich (Stephanie Plum #18). Rating: 3.5/5 (would have been 4 until the ending). This would have been a strong entry in the series until the ending. It seemed almost like she was sick of writing, so she just wrapped things up…but almost nothing was actually concluded. Overall this was a superfast light read that I really needed after Fifty Shades of. Fifty Shades of Grey. By Rae / Bashful Fashionista.
