Reading for Preschool: Don't do this at home! Cutesy shaped books

http://www.readingforpreschool.blogspot.com/2010/07/dont-do-this-at-home-cutesy-shaped.html

This is a blog for parents who are interested in incorporating literacy into their child's life in fun and interesting ways. Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Don't do this at home! Creating a cute little shape book with Isadora proved to not be as motivating as I had hoped. To save you from the same mistake! S now so invested in this lame project that I basically made up the story myself and wrote it down, prodding her every step of the way. It was about three short sentences long. Shameful. Dont try this at home.

Ildren understand that the letters have to be put in a certain order to communicate the intended message. What makes the /i/ sound? Okay - after the /i/ sound what do you hear? Reading for Preschool: Food for Thought: Invented spelling

http://www.readingforpreschool.blogspot.com/2010/03/food-for-thought-inventive-spelling.html

This is a blog for parents who are interested in incorporating literacy into their child's life in fun and interesting ways. Saturday, March 13, 2010. Food for Thought: Invented spelling. Using invented spelling can strengthen your child's spelling and reading ability, while opening up fun ways to write letters and stories. Lately Isadora has enjoyed writing notes to her friends. I think this stemmed from the activity we did with the Valentine's letters. Labels: food for thought. Dont try this at home.
