Beavers began in 1982, became part of the Scout Association in 1986, and is the youngest section in the Scouting Family. Both boys and girls, can join after their 6th birthday. They ‘swim-up’ to the Cub section when they are eight. Beaver activities are all about having Fun and making Friends and are an exciting mix of adventure and achievement which the Beavers will enjoy whilst in the colony. The 52nd Reading Scout Group was registered on 5th November 1925. Based at the Reading Scout and Guide HQ. In Northcourt Avenue, we are one of several Scout Groups in Reading Central Scout District, over a hundred Scout Groups in Berkshire. And one of thousands of Groups in the UK. With the continued national debate surrounding physical activity amongst school children, Sainsbury's developed a campaign in 2005 that aimed to inspire pupils and teachers alike to get more active. The Explorer Section is for young people aged 14 to 18 years old. And they make up the fourth section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
