And One Fine Morning...: Bikes and Rugs
http://postgradstillrad.blogspot.com/2012/05/bikes-and-rugs.html
And One Fine Morning. Sunday, 6 May 2012. The weather has changed sharply, and so have my habits. I spent the winter months curled up with podcasts playing and knitting needles clicking. Now, springtime has drawn me from my blanket nest and into the warm sunshine. I swear- read the rest for photo-documented proof. The most memorable part of our trip was our 3-hour bike ride through an apple orchard. The scenes were incredible, and it felt nice to exercise a bit. Below are some shots from our ride:. That'...

And One Fine Morning...: December 2011
http://postgradstillrad.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
And One Fine Morning. Monday, 5 December 2011. Queen of the Cotton Castle. After Fridays night class, my academic faculty student and his wife invited me to the movies with them. I graciously accepted, and the three of us headed to see the last installment of the Twilight series: Breaking Dawn. The film was in English with Turkish subtitles, so I was able to quench my thirst for pop culture with ease. Cinematic genius, it was not, but it was a fun way to end the school week. And One Fine Morning...: September 2011
http://postgradstillrad.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
And One Fine Morning. Thursday, 29 September 2011. Hanging my Hat in Afyon: Finally Settled. Ive been in Turkey for just under a month and Im happy to say weve finally settled in Afyon. After much running around, our apartment now has beds, a functioning stove and various other necessities. Im becoming familiar with the streets of this small city and the small city is becoming familiar with me. Not many foreigners come to Afyon, so I often get asked Nerelisiniz (where are you from? Earlier today we were ...

And One Fine Morning...: Istanbul
http://postgradstillrad.blogspot.com/2012/04/if-theres-any-place-in-turkey-youve-got.html
And One Fine Morning. Thursday, 26 April 2012. If there's any place in Turkey you've got to go, it's Istanbul. Somewhere around 16 million people call this continent-crossing province home. At risk of sounding like a travel agent- Istanbul has got it all. Roman and Ottoman History seeps from every crack in the pavement. Modern stores and businesses cased in modern architecture keep the city current (Starbucks? Pre-cruise view from our boat. Next, we made our way to Dolmabahçe Sarayı (Filled Garden Palace...

And One Fine Morning...: Washing Machine
http://postgradstillrad.blogspot.com/2012/05/washing-machine.html
And One Fine Morning. Sunday, 13 May 2012. Our washing machine is very old and sometimes it doesn't like to work. Through trial and error we've found that brute force is the most successful tactic. I can hear my roommate kicking it right now. Let's show that washing machine who is boss. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). And One Fine Morning...: January 2012
http://postgradstillrad.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
And One Fine Morning. Monday, 9 January 2012. I did something unusual for the past two weekends: I stayed in Afyon. Because we have such a large network of Fulbright grantees all around Turkey, Ive been able to explore Turkey and have great friends to stay with while I do it. After spending a weekend in Mugla (a beautiful coastal province to the south) and then a weekend in Usak (a city only about 2 hours away), I was happy to relax at home before my upcoming European getaway. And One Fine Morning...: March Getaways
http://postgradstillrad.blogspot.com/2012/04/march-getaways.html
And One Fine Morning. Tuesday, 17 April 2012. My travels in brief:. Mountains meet the sea in Antalya. Four hours south and located on the Mediterranean Sea. Beautiful city with a beachy vibe. Two of the Fulbright ladies I travelled with ran in the 10K race in the Antalya Marathon. Go them! I'll be heading back here in a few weeks time for one last Fulbright hoorah. What more could a girl ask for? For us. Also, super thankful that this film was not dubbed in Turkish! My days have gathered an uncontrollab...

And One Fine Morning. Tuesday, 29 November 2011. A Belated Thanksgiving with the Fulbright Crew. As the fourth Thursday of November approached, the Afyon Fulbrighters eagerly planned a Thanksgiving get-together. We started with humble intentions and a grocery list, but like passengers pushing a stalled-out car down a hill, momentum soon had us speeding down a highway. A stuffing and cranberry sauce highway. And One Fine Morning. Wednesday, 22 February 2012. I spy with my little eye.our hotel. The final installment of this three-part series offers a satisfying ending to a real nail-biter of a storyline. Plane landed, we collected our luggage and hopped on a bus to Venice proper. Venice is awarded the Emily Stamp of Approval. In Piazza San Marco. Having only been ...
