Move to Tumblr? | read what you know
https://readwhatyouknow.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/move-to-tumblr
February 14, 2011. Posted by Katie in reviews. I’ve also taken on way more responsibility at work, and am finding that I lack the time to dedicate to a blog. Or at least, I want to spend more time blogging than I currently can. And I’ve started blogging about storytime. Which is easier to update and really makes me very happy.). But, I do miss blogging about YA. So, a few weeks ago I started a Tumblr account here. March 15, 2011. Http:/ kateevangelistanovels.blogspot.com/. I hope to see you there. Debut ...

September 21, 2010. Posted by Katie in community. These days, I’m a quiet presence in the book blogging community. I still interact with y’all on Twitter. I still read all of your entries, but I’ve taken a step back from updating here as often as I used to. When news surfaced late last week that Laurie Halse Anderson’s book “Speak” was under fire again in a town in Missouri. It’s hard for me to sit here and know that this book banning is going on around me, and for me to have nothing to. October 2, 2010.

June 20, 2010. Posted by Katie in shoptalk. I don’t know how else to word how truly busy public librarians are during the summer other than to point you towards this fabulous post written by Abby (the) Librarian. We love seeing our kids and teens on a regular, daily basis — but it is truly exhausting. Things should settle down this week. (We have likely gotten most of the sign-ups out of the way, and our teen volunteers have all have a full week of training/working.). June 23, 2010. June 23, 2010. 2010 a...

Why we have book embargoes. August 15, 2010. Posted by Katie in shoptalk. Obviously, if you haven’t heard by now, copies of “Mockingjay” have been spotted on bookshelves, and in libraries, and the feverish tweets of “OMG, I HAVE IT” have started. But the official release date of August 24th is nine days away. I spent the greater part of my day driving to four different bookstores in the area looking for a copy of the book on shelf. The only way to protect myself right now is either to log off the Interne...

Nerds heart ya: results! June 23, 2010. Posted by Katie in community. Tags: nerds heart ya. So very excited to have this bracket’s result for Nerds Heart YA. Today Heather from Book Addiction. And I judged these together, emailing back and forth until we both wound up on the same side. (It wasn’t too hard though — we came to a decision pretty quickly! You can go read Heather’s post and reviews right here. In the Path of Falling Objects. I had a personal reaction to this book my cousin has served in both ...

An Orange Storytime! | Awesome Story Time
https://awesomestorytime.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/an-orange-storytime
Ok, so it took me a little bit to get this blog up. As it turns out, blogging is something I enjoy doing but I am not really the best at getting it done. I really want to thank everyone that has commented with great ideas about storytimes. It’s been really helpful in how I plan for my groups so thanks a bunch! Anyway, continuing on with the colors theme next I tackled Orange! As you may recall, I got this idea from Storytime Katie and you should check out her blog. To get some great ideas! This is a grea...

Monthly Archives: September 2011. And some ducks too! To continue on with the color theme, we next tackled Yellow. The theme started out as Yellow but then sort of morphed into Ducks. I will be honest, in my mind ducks are yellow. I realize this is not true and neither of the ducks on these covers are in fact yellow, but I went with them anyway. As you will recall, I was inspired by the lovely Storytime Katie. To do a colors so check out her posts for some great ideas! The books I read this week were:.

Monthly Archives: May 2011. The weather is absolutely beautiful and we celebrated today with a garden storytime! This is a lovely theme and is very versatile. I have been looking forward to this storytime for weeks and was so happy to finally share it with my kids. This is a beautiful book about a girl who helps her mother in the garden and goes on to describe what her dream garden would look like. It’s full of imagination and encourages the children to dream about what their garden would look like.

It Looked Like Spilt Milk. Storytime started again this week! I’ve been anxiously awaiting its return! It had been forever since I did a storytime! Well enough about planning…. on the books! I started this week with Eric Carle’s. From Head to Toe. It Looked Like Spilt Milk. By Charles G. Shaw. Finally, we read. I didn’t realize that I did two Eric Carle books until just now! I usually try not to repeat authors, but the kids didn’t seem to mind this time. This story is similar to. This craft was super eas...

February | 2015 | Awesome Story Time
https://awesomestorytime.wordpress.com/2015/02
Monthly Archives: February 2015. This week it snowed in Chicago! It was the fifth largest snowstorm on record and it just keeps falling. I planned this story time a few weeks ago and really wanted to wait for a snowy week to share this theme with my story time friends. I do multiple story times each week for different groups and ages of children, so I always like to have more than a few choices to swap in and out. I’m A Little Snowfriend (to the tune of I’m a Little Teapot). Build a snowman every day!

A Blue Story Time! This is the last of the colors story times. I started with Red. After that came Orange. Who can forget Yellow. And last but not least good old Green! Special thanks to my pal, Storytime Katie. For inspiring me to do this. Little Blue Truck Leads the Way. I had intended to read. It Looked Like Spilt Milk. By Charles G. Shaw. Razorblog: Happy Birthday to You and You and You

Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Happy Birthday to You and You and You. Sophisticated, Persevering, Aloof. Du caviar, s’il vous plait? If life is a box of chocolates, you’re a champagne-filled Godiva truffle. You’re so sophisticated you could make the Queen of England seem gauche, and your attention to detail (you can spot a faux-Prada bag from a mile off) means you’re a perfectionist about everything. Just make sure your snooty attitude doesn’t have other people saying non merci. 8212;helps you open up. Love ...

In a state of thixotropy. I've only got a finite amount of time, to reach equilibrium…. 2 Days in, and I’m wide awake. May 21st, 2011 Tags: polyphasic. So a couple of days ago I decided to jump into a polyphasic sleep schedule. I had mentioned it about a year ago. And adjusted it a little bit for myself. I needed the schedule to work with a normal-ish work day (letting me nap during lunch) and giving me time to commute if needed. Here’s the schedule I came up with (using military time):. So far I’v...

The "Right of Conscience" rule set in motion by gool ol' Bushy back in August is slowly on its way to being overturned. This rule allows virtually anyone in the health care field to refuse service to anyone if they deem it to be against their ethical beliefs. This could include everything from prophylactics. To family planning to blood transfusions, and everything in between. CNN has a good article. Election, Ina...

Tim's WordPress Blog. It’s August, so BLOOM. How Does Your Garden Grow? The dahlias are starting to open, and appear to be beautiful. Watch for more updates. I’m very excited about the zinnias, even though the wind and heat has really beaten them up. But, they’re resilient and still look pretty good. Maybe some shorter ones next year. Hydrangeas look pretty good for the first year. The ones we discovered at the MN State Fair are starting to turn pink! STEAM Education is a No-Brainer. The front looks pret...
