She saw sprinkles. I saw an empty box, ready to go in the recycling bin. He saw a jet pack. I saw my hardwood floors, getting more scuffed by the day. Get me outta here! Live, Love, Teach. Slices of life from my little corner of the world. March 31, 2015. Oh hair, you keep her head warm- with that much mop, there isn’t really an alternative. No scarves necessary, she tells me, just wrap the end around and you make her fuzzy warm. Sigh. An animal lover after all. Belle, Pocahontas, and Mulan, to name a few, have beautiful darker hair. Oh geez, really? We’ve reached a braided stalemate mister. It’s buying me some reprieve from the tantrum...This post mak...

Musings from a Literacy Coach. March 31, 2015. March 30, 2015. Every now and again, though, Katie wakes up before I leave. On those mornings, Katie suddenly appears holding her blankie and her beloved monkey. Her pajamas are wrinkled from a good night’s sleep, and her hair is a tangled mess. Her eyes are still sleepy, but her smile is fully awake. 8220;Good morning, Mommy,” Katie says as she snuggles into my arms. “I’m the err-wee bird.”. We are so blessed. 8220;Bye, Mommy. I yub you.”. Ready to Flip a Coin. Celebrations – It’s Saturday! Wish I Would Have Read Nancie’s Advice Before I Peed My Pants. March 25, 2015. I really wish I had read Nancie Atwell’s advice to people considering the teaching profession. Before I peed in my pants. I have an amazing bladder. It’s a teacher’s bladder. On most days I can wait to pee until early evening. (I know my teacher friends will understand this.). It wasn’t always this way, though. Although I made the decision to go and started toward the bathroo...

A Slice of My Life. 8230;Moments to be treasured. It’s Okay, I’m a Teacher. March 4, 2015. I was using the restroom at the gym when I heard someone enter the next stall. A moment later I heard two young voices telling her that they their hands were dirty and they needed to use hand sanitizer. I smiled to myself as I listened to this young mother patiently explain to her children that while hand sanitizer would kill the germs, they really needed to use soap and water to make their hands clean. She asked&#...

March 10, 2015. March 10, 2015. My son is cutting 4 of his molars. It’s been a rough past couple of days. I look into his mouth and they look like little snow capped mountains-the tooth just barely breaking through the surface. Poor little man is so uncomfortable. Questioning Love →. Cross It Off the List. March 24, 2015. We are not moving, for now. The appraisal came in too low. A fine WordPress.com site. Worry It’s a word with such a tense feeling. Why do I worry so much? And why do I worry about everything? I worry about the big things, and I worry about the small things. My husband even calls me Chicken Little. I try to relax and stay calm and talk myself out of the worry, but it’s just easier to think the scary thoughts instead for some reason. I worry about Ava running down the sidewalk too fast and falling too hard. I worry about what school will be like when Ava starts.
