Philippe Truche’s Blog. Unit Testing 101 – Fundamentals of Unit Testing. Filed under: .NET. 8212; Tags: course. 8212; Philippe Truche @ 8:40. This post is my first of 3 posts on unit testing, as introduced in https:/ philippetruche.wordpress.com/2011/03/11/unit-testing-a-curriculum/. Unit Testing 101 is targeted at audiences that have little to no familiarity with unit testing. This might include junior developers and even managers in software development. Deciding what to test. What Is Unit Testing?

Throwing SOAP Faults in a WCF service being mindful of non-WCF clients | Philippe Truche's Blog

Philippe Truche’s Blog. Throwing SOAP Faults in a WCF service being mindful of non-WCF clients. Filed under: .NET. 8212; Tags: ASP.NET. 8212; Philippe Truche @ 9:28. I was engaged recently to design and write a WCF service that is to be consumed by an ASP.NET 2.0 client. While I was aware that with a WCF service and a WCF client, using a System.ServiceModel.FaultException TDetail. So off to trial and error I went and here is what I proposed. ServiceContract] public interface IMyPinService { [OperationCon...

A Programmer's Dream: Row Not Found...
http://programmer.wrighton.org/2011/08/row-not-found.html
Yet more Geek ruminations to clutter up the internets. Thursday, August 18, 2011. We (as in the company I work for) have a product which we've named Bounce. Bounce is, as one might guess from the name, a product which reboots servers. It's a solution-in-a-box type thing, that comes in a 1u chassis for server racks. So, I started work, and tested the bounce group that the issue usually popped up in, and found, absolutely nothing. Everything worked perfectly. That error message read: r. A difference betwee...

A Programmer's Dream: June 2010

Yet more Geek ruminations to clutter up the internets. Monday, June 7, 2010. NET and the Unending Process. So I had a problem. In the scheme of things, it wasn't that big of a problem, at least provided that one didn't stop and restart an application multiple times without doing the same to their PC. As one might surmise from the TITLE of this particular post, my problem was a process that just refused to die when my application closed. My first thought was that this was something to do with THREADS!

A Programmer's Dream: December 2009
http://programmer.wrighton.org/2009_12_01_archive.html
Yet more Geek ruminations to clutter up the internets. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. I'm currently stretched between two projects for work. One a rather long-term system to improve the efficiency of document creation for a local loan company and the other is to assist with the customizations inherent in a Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon) migration from version 6.5SP1 to 7.0FP1. But, then you have to wonder, where on earth these changes are stored, and the answered to that is within a database field. Also,...

A Programmer's Dream: Win8 Explorer's New UI
http://programmer.wrighton.org/2011/08/win8-explorers-new-ui.html
Yet more Geek ruminations to clutter up the internets. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Win8 Explorer's New UI. The IT Geek-world is in a something of an uproar over Microsoft's big reveal on Sunday (8/29) of the improvements that they're baking into Windows 8's Explorer. Based technologist, have about not just the new UI, but what this new UI means in terms of the data provided by Microsoft at the linked to post above. The second thing about Explorer and the Windows-file system that makes me happy is that th...

Yet more Geek ruminations to clutter up the internets. Monday, September 19, 2011. Trello Broke My Brain. Here's a secret, whenever I stumble across a web application that I think is awesome, I look at its source-code in an attempt to figure out how they're doing it. Quite often, one can find quite a bit of information by looking at various JavaScript elements, not to mention how the various HTML elements are named. So, of course, when I discovered Trello. Was an interesting find, as it's interactive cha...

A Programmer's Dream: The New Google Reader
http://programmer.wrighton.org/2011/10/new-google-reader.html
Yet more Geek ruminations to clutter up the internets. Monday, October 31, 2011. The New Google Reader. I use Google Reader. I've always enjoyed it immensely, and have used it extensively since it was first released. I've tried other RSS Readers, but frankly, none of them offered me the flexibility which Google Reader provided. I mean, talk about rubbing salt into the wound of those 10,000 users that were begging (and signing petitions) Google to keep that particular feature. Posted by Stephen Wrighton.

Yet more Geek ruminations to clutter up the internets. Monday, May 30, 2011. Partitioning .NET code…. CodeBetter.com has an article up currently on Partitioning .NET code. An issue which I'm intrigued with, and had recently had to actually do. I mean, there were a number of aspects that this system had going on:. HTTP Modules (entirely code based, and defined in the WEB.Config as opposed to ashx-style handlers). Sandboxes for the home page. Interfaces project for custom additions to the system. Now, orig...
