October 12, 2007. I don’t know if anyone’s still “reading” here – in the age of RSS, I’m not sure what that means anymore – but I thought I’d point out that I’m posting again at no great matter. I might cross-post things here, but I might not. I was probably a little too ambitious in starting this blog. The loneliness of the academic. Comment once, comment twice. Laquo; what comes naturally. April 6, 2006. This may be a new blog, but I am not all that new to blogging (as some of you may know). To give more background to this blog, I’ve selected a few history posts from my other blog and posted excerpts from and links to the originals in the archives. The loneliness of the academic. Comment once, comment twice. An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later. A)musings of a grad student. John and belle have a blog. New Kid on the Hallway.

Laquo; foci of history. April 6, 2006. It’s nice to see a bit of environmental history get reviewed prominently (as opposed to being confined to subscription/academic only publications): Neal Ascherson on. a 2011/2012 rumination | lines ever more unclear
https://thefrogprincess.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/a-20112012-rumination
Lines ever more unclear. This is both a look-back and look-forward kind of post. I’ve been thinking about 2011 a lot lately, for obvious reasons, but I’ve been surprised by how negative my feelings about 2011 have been, certainly more negative than my experience of 2011. So why, when looking back, did I feel so negatively toward what has clearly been a great year relative to the past several? And I don’t do uncertainty well. The socially awkward people. The not-so-liberal liberals who pat themselves ...

Lines ever more unclear. Archive for February, 2011. I’ve done abysmally badly on the job market this year. Bad to the point where there’s a very good chance I might be working a non-academic, dead-end job next year (book store, coffee shop, the like) just to pay the bills. To be clear, I didn’t apply to anything and everything I could have. I […]. A Ianqui in the Village. Dr Mon’s So Called (…) Life. Ferule & Fescue. It’s probably me. Las aventuras de la catrala. Lines ever more unclear. Archive for October, 2010. It turns out that trying to write a chapter (technically revise but the first attempt was woeful so really I’m doing it from scratch) that you know has no business being in your dissertation and will be dropped from the diss the second you defend is bloody difficult.
