ONE RED STUMP WATCHED: The Stump Watch Began 10 Years Ago
http://redstumpwatch.blogspot.com/2009/04/stump-watch-began-10-years-ago.html
Monday, April 20, 2009. The Stump Watch Began 10 Years Ago. On February 23 1999 in the last year of the Milena. The watch began. There were no expectations but it was clear that no matter what how this site changed would be of some interest over time. Forestry is a contentious issue in Tasmania and emotion often replaces logic in regard to how places like this one are understood. It is well out of the way and few people visit it. RED TREE TASMANIA PRESS. Friday, May 8, 2009. RED TREE PRESS SEARCH. I remember Mr. Pattie well fro when he wrote in The Examiner. I wonder where his is now? If he read this tosh again I wonder if he would still want to put his name to it. It is interesting how history comes back and bites you on the bum. May 8, 2009 at 2:33 PM. Mapping Landscape Ownerships: April 2009
http://ownedlandscapes.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
A conversation to do with placedness and the cultural dynamics that shape places and our cultural realities. Saturday, April 25, 2009. Stakes, Shares and Ownerships. Click on an image to enlarge. In the 1970s it was fashionable to start to consider “stakeholders”. In planning and management processes. Back then it was intended to be an inclusive notion but very quickly some of these stakeholders began to assert precedence over others – they demanded ranking and privileges to match. We do not need to inve...

ONE RED STUMP WATCHED: LOOKING BACK 10 YEARS

Tuesday, April 21, 2009. LOOKING BACK 10 YEARS. Click on an image to enlarge. When a logging coupe is burned many are outraged and others say that it is necessary. Possibly the outrage is justified given the apparent waste and nowadays the increased awareness of the carbon stored in forests – nowhere more so than in Tasmania. The proposition that 60% of the biomass in a logging coupe such as this one goes up in smoke (CO 2. How much timber was harvested from this coupe? And that is an answer in itself!

ONE RED STUMP WATCHED: The Place in Context
http://redstumpwatch.blogspot.com/2009/04/place-in-context.html
Monday, April 20, 2009. The Place in Context. The clear fell was relatively recent and firewood gathers had been there collecting firewood for domestic use. Possibly there had been other wood scavengers there as well. It seemed that there had been some activity going on in order to recover as much as possible that might be recovered before the impending 'Autumn Burn'. There was nothing left to do but WATCH! ONE RED STUMP WATCHED: The Place in Another Context
http://redstumpwatch.blogspot.com/2009/04/place-in-another-context.html
Monday, April 20, 2009. The Place in Another Context. At the margins of this coupe it was possible to imagine what had been cleared and what biodiversity was present within it. These trees were protected from logging because they are in a stream side zone and thus must remain. That is something that is not ALWAYS. Respected but it was here. Nonetheless, these trees will provide an ongoing reference for the so called regeneration of the clear fell. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). LOOKING BACK 10 YEARS.
