Mar 21st, 2017 12:20 pm. So at my first Ann Arbor Scrabble club meeting (Year 3 I think), I played an older guy named Chuck. One odd thing about Chuck was that people tended to use him instead of a Scrabble dictionary. So he was playing a game, and someone playing a different game would say something like, "Chuck? Is YAPPIER a word? Or even "Hey, Chuck? Sometimes he'd say things like, "Hey, Steve, ALIGNED has two anagrams! I liked Chuck almost instantly, of course. Give me THIRTY SECONDS! Can you do that?

our goings-on: Even though you can't hear, LISTEN TO THIS!

http://our-goings-on.blogspot.com/2011/02/oops.html

Tuesday, February 15. Even though you can't hear, LISTEN TO THIS! Do you guys remember the episode of American Idol when Seacrest offered a congratulatory high five. TO A BLIND GUY. A similar experience occurred last week when one of my dearest (and most intelligent.) friends was discussing her two thumbs up! For the movie 127 Hours. Julie: "Saw 127 Hours this weekend and give it two thumbs up! Unabashed Me: "that's kinda like seacrest throwing up his HIGH FIVE! For the blind guy.".

From the mouth of babes. Today my son said he learned a new word [in his "gifted and talented" class] - "cwm". I said, "Ooh, that's a 'Scrabble' word! To which he replied (with not a little attitude), "Yeah, Dad, pretty much every word more than 1 letter long in English is a 'Scrabble' word". [He's 10.]. Post a new comment. Just a general wondering, has anyone been able to download a Scrabble-like game onto their cell phone? I can't imagine that it exists but I'm still curious. Also, I usually play Scrabble on ISC but on the occasions that I play with real life friends, where can I get a Scrabble dictionary. You know, the kind that has words like "za" and "qi" so I don't get accused of making words up. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post. our goings-on: For Daisy, wherever I may find her...

http://our-goings-on.blogspot.com/2009/03/for-daisy-wherever-i-may-find-her.html

Tuesday, March 24. For Daisy, wherever I may find her. Having scattered cat litter on the runner in the hallway, on the rug in my bedroom, or sprinkled atop the hardwoods in any other given room in the house. What's with dogs and eating litter-covered cat poop straight out of the litter box? As if Daisy discovered the scooped poop and, in her drunken excitement, ran to call her friends to share the good news, leaving several other unmentionables strewn about the bathroom floor. There IS a special kind of...

Saturday, August 8, 2015. Column on gottman and anger. Anger is one of the traditional seven deadly sins. One of our members noticed that some sermon material appears in my columns. This week, it is explicitly so. Many churches read Ephesians 4:25-5:2 for worship this weekend. quoting a psalm, the writer tells us to be angry but do not sin-do not let the sun go down on your anger.”. Calming oneself is a key to keeping anger in bounds. It may be prayer; it may be placing oneself in a calming environme...
