Philippi to Istanbul | RevDocChuck's Blog

https://revdocchuck.wordpress.com/2015/06/04/philippi-to-istanbul

The occasional musings and misadventures of a Southern Pastor. June 4, 2015. We then pushed on to modern day Kavala, a nice port city, which was a major port in Paul’s day known as Neopolis. We spent the night there, and had a fun seafood meal in a nearby restaurant (Kavala is known for fishing today.). On the first shuttle. But finally we were all through, and on the bus with Tosun (guide) and Mahmoud (driver). We drove for a bit, stopped for a bite to eat, and proceeded on to Istanbul. We ended the day...

The occasional musings and misadventures of a Southern Pastor. Review of Advance Screening of Unbroken. December 22, 2014. I had the privilege of seeing an advance screening of Unbroken last week, the movie that will be released nationwide on Christmas Day, based on Laura Hillenbrand’s great book. The movie is, hands down, a great movie! I advise everyone planning to see it to go on a fluids fast for several hours in advance, because you do not want to make a bathroom break once it starts. I will say tha...

Atlanta to Delphi, Greece | RevDocChuck's Blog

https://revdocchuck.wordpress.com/2015/05/30/atlanta-to-delphi-greece

The occasional musings and misadventures of a Southern Pastor. Atlanta to Delphi, Greece. May 30, 2015. Well, after much travel, no real adventures, but a lot of territory covered and time killed, we arrived in Greece! Fortunately we slept in, ate a late breakfast, and met Maria, our guide for the Greek leg of our trip, and headed out midmorning. A lunch stop, followed by another stop for some majestic views and pictures, and we moved on to our stop for the night, Delphi. Posted in Creative Brooding.

The occasional musings and misadventures of a Southern Pastor. My bags are packed, I’m ALMOST ready to go! May 28, 2015. A few years ago, I was privileged to lead a gaggle of Presbyterians on a “Presbyterian Heritage Tour of Scotland.” It was an incredible trip on which we forged lifelong relationships, met the most incredible guide ever (to date), and were privileged to see the “Mother country.”. 8220;My bags are packed, I’m ALMOST ready to go! Delphi to Meteora to Thessaloniki | RevDocChuck's Blog

https://revdocchuck.wordpress.com/2015/06/01/delphi-to-meteora-to-thessaloniki

The occasional musings and misadventures of a Southern Pastor. Delphi to Meteora to Thessaloniki. June 1, 2015. How does one sum up thousands of years of history in a few paragraphs? After sleeping on the reality of Delphi and the concept of people traveling great distances to make sacrifices and offerings to ask the Oracle the ONE question you can ask, and to walk away with a vague answer, we rolled out the next morning for more history. Used in James Bond movie “For Your Eyes Only”. Monday we drove a s...

What A Bunch: jolie jardin jaubert

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2014/07/jolie-jardin-jaubert.html

Thursday, July 24, 2014. We spent years without much at all of interest in the yard. The house in Atlanta. I still vividly remember our front yard looking like this during construction:. Since moving into Milllstream 2.0, we've had help from a gardener, a friend of the family. The name of her business is joile jardin jaubert, hence the name of this post. Thanks also to cousin Mandy for the pots. Summer is looking good around here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Georgetown, Kentucky, United States.

What A Bunch: The Delightful Child

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2008/09/delightful-child.html

Monday, September 22, 2008. I met Kimberly at swim practice, which was at the tiny indoor pool at Georgetown College. He had just moved from Olympia, Washington and we hit it off immediately. Some thirty years later, he still is. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The drought in Georgia. Sparkys ears are up. Water balloons at UK. On the tire swing at Millstream on the Elkhorn. What A Bunch: And the walls come a-tumbling down

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2010/09/and-walls-come-tumbling-down.html

Sunday, September 26, 2010. And the walls come a-tumbling down. It’s interesting how little we human beings open up to each other naturally, even within families. As you know, we lost our beloved Liza this summer and the tragedy continues to hurt. As with all pain, we search for the silver linings, the things we know that Liza leaves with us even while we don’t get the joy of being with her directly. Mary Anne spent the week with the three of them while I worked in Denver. She’s always a beauti...To the ...

What A Bunch: We do not all like the same kind of weather My Dear

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2015/03/we-do-not-all-like-same-kind-of-weather.html

Friday, March 6, 2015. We do not all like the same kind of weather My Dear. We do not all like the same kind of weather, My Dear" is something Grandmother used to say all the time. We're not quite sure what the origin of that quote is, but TGP. Said it all the time too. Our last two winters on the park have had some pretty strong snow. A week ago Monday, we got 6 inches and got to do some sledding with cousin Tish, Steve, Cooper and friends. As I've seen since I've been back. Cousin Jay came to dig us out.

What A Bunch: MS Walk 2009

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2009/04/ms-walk-2009.html

Saturday, April 4, 2009. Just back from the Walk. We have raised a little over $3000 so far. It's great to see such an outpouring from people that care about Mary Anne. Sparky came with me. He thought it was a race, so we ended up near the front by the time we made it around the park. A beautiful day at Piedmont park here in Atlanta and the most worthy cause I know. Many thanks to those of you who gave. MS Walk 2009. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Teddy Shapou and the three day pack of cigarettes.

What A Bunch: MS Walk 2013

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2013/09/ms-walk-2013.html

Monday, September 2, 2013. MA at MS walk 2007. Knitting my sweater at the MS Walk. I have not walked to raise money for MS in 3 years, but will be walking again on 9/14. You can read about the saga. That caused me to miss the event for so long; it is a blessing to be settled enough to walk for this great cause again. Please sign on to. And donate, if you are so inclined. For the first update ever, I can report that Mary Anne is actually better. She has been taking Amyprya. Sparky at 2009 walk. Musings on...

What A Bunch: MS Walk 2015 recap

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2015/05/ms-walk-2015-recap.html

Sunday, May 10, 2015. MS Walk 2015 recap. The walk was yesterday, on a steamy May morning in the Bluegrass. Thanks to all of our friends, we raised over $1800 for the National MS Society. (I think some contributors ended up in the general fund instead of attributed to MA - but it's the donation that counts). If anyone missed the fun and wants to contribute still, it's not too late, just click here. My favorite team T-shirt read:. Sounds like Mary Anne to me. MA's morning web perusals found this article.

What A Bunch: The House that was

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-house-that-was.html

Saturday, September 1, 2012. The House that was. The deal in our house was that if MA started knitting again, I had to start writing again. She was in town the other day, and asked Lorie, Darlin’ (our Garmin) how to get to the knitting store. Her mojo is back and I will have a finished sweater by the time the weather will allow me to wear it. The post following this one will be about our 2 years in the wilderness - if I don’t write down that amazing timeline it will be lost forever. The Sun Room again.

What A Bunch: Living in a tree house

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2015/05/living-in-tree-house.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Living in a tree house. Spring has definitely sprung around here. We have been on the porch almost every day. The late afternoon thundershowers come, but they keep the grounds lush and the temperature down. We had an oriole come think he wanted into the house for a couple of days. He kept lighting on the door handle and knocking on the glass. In the interest of visitor mobility, and anticipating some first time visitors in the fall, when the wedding celebration. And perhaps best of ...

What A Bunch: MS Walk 2010

http://ebenh.blogspot.com/2010/03/ms-walk-2010.html

Monday, March 8, 2010. Hard to believe that it’s been a whole year already since my last post. About raising money for the MS walk. It’s been a busy year for us, and one where we haven’t let the disease stop us from doing much of what we want to do. I’ve switched jobs, and am now a consultant. Especially interesting because I used to joke about them borrowing your watch to tell you what time it was. It’s interesting work and has me in Denver Mon-Thurs most weeks. On May 15 in Piedmont Park in Atlanta&#46...

The occasional musings and misadventures of a Southern Pastor. The Sacred Journey continues. June 9, 2015. Wow So much that we have seen, and how in the world to sum it up in just a few paragraphs? Interestingly, at the top of the main dome, there is a painting or fresco depicting Jesus, which was covered entirely with a painting of the first verse of the Koran; but allegedly in the ongoing restoration, plans are being made to uncover and reveal the painting of Jesus.
