Rhetoric Period Seven: Pun

http://rhetoricperiodseven.blogspot.com/2010/04/pun.html

Thursday, April 1, 2010. Definition: The humorous use of a word or phrase so as to emphasize or suggest its different meanings or applications, or the use of words that are alike or nearly alike in sound but different in meaning; a play on words. Example: I drew a picture of a pun I found on the internet. First, there is a hungry clock, but then after the time goes back four seconds back, the clock isn't hungry anymore. Hence, the clock goes back "four seconds" (for seconds). Posted by Dijnee's Blog.

http://rhetoricperiodseven.blogspot.com/2010/03/dramatic-irony_31.html

Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Dramatic Irony- When the words and action of the characters of the work of literature have a different meaning for the reader then they do for the characters. This is the result of the reader knowing more than the character. Ex: In Romeo and Juliet. We know that Juliet isn't truly dead at first, but Romeo doesn't. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
