The Great Raven: New Book Arrives!
http://suebursztynski.blogspot.com/2014/07/new-book-arrives.html
This is a book review and science fiction blog, for the most part, with the odd convention report and travel notes. And maybe the occasional Celtic goddess, such as the Great Raven. Thursday, July 03, 2014. And here it is! The book I won from the English History Authors blog! Looking forward to reading it and letting you know what I think. I do love historical fiction, and this era is one I've been studying with my Year 8. I hope the sales are good on this one, Glynn. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Morningstar Wars and other Literary Battles: May 2012
http://carlamunro.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Techno-failure - or 'Why am I such an idiot'. Ok, the event I am about to purge my soul about can not really be labelled 'techno-failure'. Let's be honest with ourselves, Carla. It is, indeed, 'person-failure'. More specifically, 'Carla-failure'. How many times have I read blogs, books, notes, been told, been reminded, been exasperatedly fist-shaken at to back up my work. EVERY TIME I WORK ON ANYTHING. BACK IT UP! Where is this going? You have probably guessed by now. But to no a...

The Morningstar Wars and other Literary Battles: The curse is broken!
http://carlamunro.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-curse-is-broken.html
Sunday, February 3, 2013. The curse is broken! Joy Ecstasy. Literal quivers and cold fingered excitement. Patting-self-on-back silliness. I have just now opened up the old file of The Nereid. I then copied and pasted the Prologue over to a new 'Novel' file on my new totally FAV writing tool, Scrivener. And I edited the shit out of it. Blessed be this rainy Monday. Here's a wee taste! Metallic, rhythmic, the sound echoed off the ice walls. Oh the memory of flesh burned! Tap Tap. Tap. A cylinder of...Sigh ...

The Morningstar Wars and other Literary Battles: An exciting day...
http://carlamunro.blogspot.com/2011/11/exciting-day.html
Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Today I am getting together with some amazing people down here in gorgeous Central Otago and I wanted to share the incredible talents of these true artists with you all! First I'm meeting Emma Louise Butler. Her art is just gorgeous. It transcends age and inspires imagination, happiness and whimsy. Check her out at www.emmalouisebutler.co.uk. And just in time for an outrageously cool and artsy Christmas Pressie too for those with everything! The colours, the story and the COW!

The Year It Didn't Happen: 01.2012
http://epicdystopia.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Jan 22, 2012. Winterlong by Elizabeth Hand. Once again, this review is going to suffer some because of how long ago I read this book. I'll be caught up to myself soon enough. Elizabeth Hand is generally hit or miss for me, but on this one it was pretty much all hit. I'll be honest, most of the action revolved around violent death and wrongful sex, but this still managed to be a beautiful story. Artsy fartsy for sure, but splashy enough to pull me through it at a run. Links to this post. Jan 7, 2012.

The Year It Didn't Happen: End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov
http://epicdystopia.blogspot.com/2011/05/end-of-eternity-by-isaac-asimov.html
May 4, 2011. End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov. Well now, that wernt half bad. Nothing like a little classic, 50s-style time travel sf to kill an afternoon. Asimov can spin a yarn, and I always enjoy his style. I always enjoy dipping into the classics. There's often a reliance on the Idea, rather than the Story, carrying the main burden. And that's a good thing! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I Have Always Been Reading Dystopian Fiction. The Dark River by John Twelve Hawks (aka, J12H or . The Book of ...

The Year It Didn't Happen: The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer by Neal Stephenson
http://epicdystopia.blogspot.com/2011/05/diamond-age-or-young-ladys-illustrated.html
May 4, 2011. The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer by Neal Stephenson. The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer. Absolutely primo modern speculative fiction. After a few different books that I sort of enjoyed and sort of just felt meh about, this one knocked my socks off. Concepts, delicious. Story, engaging. Philosophical meandering, minimal. Characters, fleshy and companionable. Which I didn't enjoy half as much as Diamond Age. To make something of herself? Subscribe to: ...
