Commentary on National Identity. Friday, May 30, 2008. Winston Churchill famously said that “democracy is the worst form of government, except all the others have been tried.” From such a statement, we would be given a fairly negative impression of democracy. But, what exactly, is democracy, and given the apparent failings of all the other political philosophies and forms of government, can democracy truly create stability in a country? Commentary on National Identity. Thursday, March 6, 2008. A Good, Hard Look at Singapore's Identity. The Straits Times, 7th September 2006). IN Singapore, often when I meet someone for the first time, I'm asked: "What are you? During these moments, many possible answers come to mind. For example, these responses include academic, longboard skateboarder or Singaporean. For Velayutham, the nub of the issue for the Singaporean government lies with Singapore being both a global city and a nation-state. A...

Commentary on National Identity: Does democracy bring about more stability?

http://www.ri3g12.blogspot.com/2008/05/does-democracy-bring-about-more.html

Commentary on National Identity. Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Does democracy bring about more stability? Http:/ www.icpd.org/democracy/. In my personal opinion, democracy does create stability. As is the norm however, there are two sides to this case, and there have been cases in which democracy does not fully create stability, a particular case which has been outlined and generalized by the statement “tyranny of the majority”. Let’s look at how democracy can create stability first. May 29, 2008 9:29 AM.

WHEN I first read about communism in a youth magazine at the age of 11, I thought it was a fantastic idea.I was struck by the simplicity of Marx's slogan – "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" – believing it to be the fairest way of allocating, and rewarding, work. Chentian's English Blog Project. Thursday, May 29, 2008. Argumentative Response Essay - Democracy Creates Stability in a Society. However, does democracy really create stability? Without doubt, the answer will certainly not be as straightforward as President Bush puts it. Nevertheless, it is my view that democracy creates stability to a large extent. Nevertheless, I believe that in modern times, many democracies have realized that a society cannot prosper if certain groups of people are denied of their r...

Friday, May 30, 2008. Term 2 Blog: "Democracy creates stability in a society". 8220;Democracy creates stability in a society.”. Many countries around the world adopt democracy as their political ideology, with varying degrees of success. As such, democracy is a double edged sword, with its fair share of advantages and disadvantages. What is meant by “democracy”? Now, does a “democracy” create a stable country? Freedom of expression is important to achieving social stability in a country. Who would no...

http://ri3g23.blogspot.com/2008/08/loss-by-ac-grayling.html

Thisis.a.class.blog. Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Loss by A.C Grayling. Common wisdom sees that a preparedness to lose is a necessary condition of gain. Naturally enough, most hope they can escape the condition, which makes loss more bitter when it occurs. It is hard to accept that to live is to lose- and that the only way to gain what matters is to accept these facts with courage. Ps i could not find the online version as i only had the hardcopy, so i typed it out). Shayne Tan. big guy. big dreams.

There might be a way to, as Mr Khaw says, “protect the interests of the donor and the patient”. Jul 14, 2008. By legalising trading, y...
