Turning a Sows Ear into a SILK Purse. Raising a house versus building a NEW one for the same cost! My ex wife and I started over five years ago, helping people along our street apply for Goverment Grants, to elevate their homes above the flood plain. My ex wife Elaine was a super factor initiating this process. But today, with more experience under my belt. I have come to see that it is a far better choice to build a whole NEW home for the same costs, on the footprint of their old home. Custom TREE House...

Things come in Threes? - A Quilt of Many Colors
http://www.quiltofmanycolors.com/1/post/2015/06/things-come-in-threes.html
A Quilt of Many Colors. News from the Shop. Things come in Threes? The old saying things come in threes can go away. These last few weeks have been very interesting. Checking the roof we found the gutters were growing lovely gardens! Back to the phone book. Yes, Al could do the job but, let the people who are insured and bonded do the work. I try to keep tools and ladders away from hubby. Check your gutters before winter to prevent ice jams and interior damage. On to another chore, paperwork! Interesting...

Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Learning by Playing: Video Games in the Classroom. One morning last winter I watched a middle-school teacher named Al Doyle give a lesson, though not your typical lesson. This was New York City, a noncharter public school in an old building on a nondescript street near Gramercy Park, inside an ordinary room that looked a lot like all the other rooms around it, with fluorescent lights and linoleum floors and steam-driven radiators that hissed and clanked endlessly. 8220;Thanks...

The Homes of Palos Verdes: Nearly done...
http://homesofpalosverdes.blogspot.com/2012/08/nearly-done.html
Friday, August 3, 2012. So here's the nearly complete home on PV Dr North. To my eye, it looks like the home was painted slightly off-white. It actually doesn't look as bad as I thought it could. My biggest complaint with the facade is the narrowness of the windows above the garage - makes it look far too busy. Otherwise, the home fits in well with the landscaping. I don't think anyone will miss the older, run-down ranch house it replaced. Posted by Homes of Palos Verdes. September 6, 2012 at 12:56 AM.

Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Saturday, April 23, 2011. Peace [and Quiet] in Our Time. A much needed sea day allowed us to do as little as possible. Other than Trivia [don’t ask], we had nothing to do and nowhere to go, so we did nothing and went nowhere. MA caught up on sleep and D began writing the journal entries for our frantic four days in the desert. Sunday, April 24, 2011. We saw and smelled the camel barn as well as the cows, sheep and chickens. Small town life in Turkey. We were supposed to...We wa...
