http://reflectivemusings.com/2015/02/27/a-glorious-dark-by-a-j-swoboda
A Glorious Dark by A.J. Swoboda. Meet A.J. Swoboda. He lives in Portland, OR. He pastors a church. This month sees the release of his new book, A Glorious Dark. And I am adamant that you should get a copy. Structured around the three days of Easter weekend, the book is a series of reflections on finding hope in the tension between belief and experience. Yes, life does not always fit within the confines of our nice, tidy, theological constructs. After making the case for the ongoing purpose of the three d...

Coffee Grenades – Reflective Musings
http://reflectivemusings.com/2014/10/30/coffee-grenades
My commitment is that the whole church is called to the work of evangelism (Matt 28:19-20) and that there are some who are specifically gifted to the Church as evangelists who should be helping equip the body of Christ (Eph. 4:11-12). My inkling is that my friend is experiencing a call to the latter. So what’s the best way to learn, when there’s no clear teacher around? Immersion, of course! In at the deep end. I volunteered to head out with Nolan, and we’ve been out three times now. October 30, 2014.

Topical thoughts and ruminations pertaining to faith, culture and the church. Expect a mix of individual posts, longer series and guest posts. I love my friend Nolan. Over the past twelve months, he’s been grappling with the calling to be an evangelist. And he’s been asking me questions. To be honest, I have little clear idea about how to be an evangelist,… Continue Reading →. Click to share on Google (Opens in new window). Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Page 2 of 48. I quit my job. I did it seven months early, and that was six and a half months ago. Mission from Within – Reflective Musings
http://reflectivemusings.com/2014/10/07/mission-from-within
Class is in session. I’m at the Northwest District Conference in Spokane, WA, and I just finished a class with Gabe Barreiro. He has a particular focus on mission, church planting and Next Gen ministries. During the workshop, which was on the theme of developing a domestic missiology, I took down a paraphrase of something Gabe said. Still, I have been considering those words. What does it mean for the church to live mission from within? So often, mission work is understood as a going. A people. It...
