Feb 24, 2015. Only 2 Health Scares In 64 Years. I have only had 2 health scares in 64 years of life. Here we are 52 years later for scare # 2. On paper not as scary as possible cancer, but still stressful. I just found out that I have a detached retina in my left eye. Just after 4 pm the surgeon finally got around to the nasty part, and told me to be back Friday at 10 am for a 45 minute operation. 2 hours prep, about 1 hour for operation and 30 minutes or so to make sure I come off anaesthetic okay).
