Richard and Debby Thompson. Friday, June 5, 2009. We spent the last free day of our trip to Colorado riding the cog train up to Pike's Peak. Pike's Peak reaches 14,110 feet. We boarded the cog train for the 8.9 mile trek to the top. Even though we traveled only 8.9 miles, a one-way trip lasted one hour twenty minutes. As long as she is tighltly wrapped and held, she is quite content. Ryan has taken very good care of her so Staci can get some rest. Richard and Debby Thompson. Sunday, July 19, 2015. Hawaii - Day 8. Today we drove to downtown Hawaii. Our goal was to visit the Iolani Palace. This was the palace of the ruling Hawaiian family as people began to discover the islands. Due to pressure from the United States, Iolani was forced to sign a treaty, thus ending the reign of the royal family. The palace was well ahead of its time, having electricity, indoor plumbing, and many other "modern" features. Posted by rthompson at 7/19/2015 04:23:00 PM.

Richard and Debby Thompson. Saturday, July 18, 2015. Hawaii - Day 4. We spent our final day on the big island touring the last southern section of Volcano National Park. We started at an elevation of nearly 5,000 feet and headed down to the coastline at 0 feet. Along the way we stopped and looked at a different landscape of the park. This landscape was mostly remnants of earlier volcano eruptions. It was quite different from the lush landscapes in other parts of the park. Subscribe to Post Comments [ Atom.

Richard and Debby Thompson. Saturday, July 18, 2015. Hawaii - Day 2. Day 2 of our Hawaiian adventure began with a helicopter ride from Hilo to an active volcano. We took off from the Hilo airport and quickly lifted into the air. Once again, on the way to the volcano we passed by waterfalls, but this time we were able to view them from the air. Here we flew as close as we were allowed around the volcano. The steam and smoke smell were quite strong and smelled like sulfuric acid. We really liked our room.
