Thoughts from an associate pastor. Tuesday, December 28, 2010. I came across an article recommended to me by a seminary professor. I think he recommended it several months ago, but I finally got around to reading it. Check it out. It says some good stuff on prophetic preaching: why we need it, and why we're afraid of it. pz: Worship Reflections, part 1
http://pastorzack.blogspot.com/2011/10/worship-reflections-part-1.html
Thoughts from an associate pastor. Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Worship Reflections, part 1. This past Sunday I preached on true worship in our morning gathering. I thought I'd take a moment to look at my list of true worship characteristics again, and challenge myself to make this part of my weekly worship. As a preface, True Worship, first and foremost, must focus on the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The main sermon text came from Ezra 3. True worship has purpose and unity. We are called to...

Thoughts from an associate pastor. Wednesday, April 4, 2012. 7 Ways you can help make our Easter worship services AMAZING this year! No, it’s not too late. Here are a few helpful hints:. Ask them not only to come to church with you, but maybe have lunch with you after the service. Offer to pick them up for church. Or, agree to meet them at a certain time at the church, to welcome them in and show them around. Ask them to sit with you during worship. Park further away than normal. This week, everyone is a...

pz: What if God asked me the same questions I pose to Him?
http://pastorzack.blogspot.com/2011/10/what-if-god-asked-me-same-questions-i.html
Thoughts from an associate pastor. Tuesday, October 4, 2011. What if God asked me the same questions I pose to Him? Do you ever get in one of "those moods" with God? You know, where you rant, vent, share frustrations, etc. Happens to me all the time. I begin to question and complain about every little thing. I've seen a discussion video where the pastor asks the question, What if you are the answer to that prayer? What if God complained to me about the same things I say to Him? God, where are you? And fa...

pz: Easter Follow Up
http://pastorzack.blogspot.com/2012/04/easter-follow-up.html
Thoughts from an associate pastor. Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Ok, So Easter services were great! We saw a ton of new faces, enjoyed a great breakfast, worshiped together, and all-in-all had a great day. what now? Invite someone back. If you brought someone with you this week, ask them if they'd like to come again this week. You've already broken the ice. Just be brave enough to ask again. Take the same "everyone is a greeter" attitude into worship every week! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Shelfari:...

Thoughts from an associate pastor. Thursday, September 15, 2011. It's been a while since my last post. wow. Where have I been since then? Ordination - I was ordained at the Wabash Annual Conference this summer. This was an exhilarating and humbling experience. To have hands laid on me, and receive prayer from that many ministers was awesome. I felt strengthened in the Spirit to continue working for the Lord. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://pastorzack.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thoughts from an associate pastor. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Ive recently been stuck on a song by Jesus Culture. Its called Your Love Never Fails. My good friend Shawn recommended it in a class forum, and Ive been listening to it since. There is a chorus in that song that repeats You make all things work together for my good. That line has caused me to pause and think several times as I sing the song. Is it too me. Are we failing to grasp that God. Thursday, September 15, 2011. Outside - . But I...

http://pastorzack.blogspot.com/2014/03/there-is-so-much-lord-is-doing-that-it.html
Thoughts from an associate pastor. Friday, March 14, 2014. Where the Lord is working. There is so much the Lord is doing that it feels a bit overwhelming. The Lord is blessing in tremendous ways. Keep praying for His will and His Spirit to lead us. I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been. Wayne Gretzky, NHL all-time scoring leader. I read that today, and it made me think of something Pastor Larry has said to mentor me. "go where the Lord is working.". Philippians 1:6, 9-11 CEB.
