Relax and read about the history as you ride, and imagine the experiences and sacrifice of the soldiers and horses of 154 years ago. The trails on the battlefield are a combination of gravel and antietam base. It is recommended that your horse have shoes or some form of temporary boots. Date release for our 2017 events! Mounted Police School Training. Rarr; Trail Rides. Trail Rides are a primary means for GEHS to raise funds for various trail improvement projects. We normally schedule a spring and fall ride each year. The trails on the battlefield are a combination of gravel and antietam base. It is recommended that your horse have shoes or some form of temporary boots. The trail rides are limited to twenty (20) riders, so advance reservations are strongly encouraged. Trail Ride is scheduled for Saturday, June 3rd.

Our volunteers are officially enrolled as Volunteers in the Parks with Gettysburg National Military Park, and are covered by workman’s compensation when joining our work parties.
