The Start » Ride to the Sun

Carlisle is easily accessible from the north-east via the A69 and Northern Rail trains. From the north-west, Carlisle is accessed via the M6 and west coast mainline train routes. To see the Ride to the Sun route which finishes at Cramond beach 20 minutes cycle (on mostly traffic-free cyclepaths) from central Edinburgh. The toilets at Bitts park were open last year until approx 9pm. Website by Marketing Concepts.

Follow in the footsteps of the Roman legions who trudged the long road from Luguvalium (Carlisle). To the old garrison camp of Caer Amon (Cramond). To register your interest - Its FREE to take part, there is a chip shop stop in Moffat after 45 miles and bacon sarnies served at the finish. I am never doing this again!

To view the route on Strava where you can also download the GPX file or just click on the link top right. We’ve chosen this route to be as accessible to as many people as possible easy to follow, interesting to ride, and as traffic free as possible. And an accessible grub stop was also a priority! It was beautiful to see deer, foxes and barn owls in the beam of our lights as we pedalled along. To see the route on Strava or a download to the route directions GPX file is at the top of the page.

Anyone for a swim? As you can see from the images HERE. Cramond is amazing and has a stunning beach, and only five miles from the centre of Edinburgh. We hope it’s a beautiful summer’s morning and that we get treated to a stunning sunrise over the Firth of Forth, on a warm and sunny morning. The aim would be to congregate the grassy knoll at the end of the promenade click HERE. They raised over £1000 in 2015. We hope that you’ll have enjoyed it, and be up for it in 2017! In my first post of the year I talked about 3 decisions for 2015. Decisions 1 and 2 are progressing nicely with my leaving date getting closer and my first application activity getting under way so onto. Decision 3: Do a cycling event that pushes me harder than I've been pushed on a bike. I've got the Velothon in Cardiff.
