Rift: Planes of Telara | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2011/02/22/rift-planes-of-telara
Rift: Planes of Telara. February 22, 2011. Over the last month we have been preparing for the launch of Rift: Planes of Telara, which is the new MMO kid on the block. Some of us have been running around in the Beta Testing events, learning the ropes and trying to get The Dying Sun ready for the launch. During Beta 5, a few TDS players were involved in a Life Invasion in Silverwood, here is Goldenpaw tanking a Preserver. Finally, here are a couple of shots of Mar’Kul in Silverwood, there were many, ...

The Keys That Bind… | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2011/03/03/the-keys-that-bind
The Keys That Bind…. March 3, 2011. Our first week in Rift has been very eventful and doubtless a good sign is that I have found plenty of time for playing and little for blog writing. On the first weekend, TDS, having decided in a close vote to roll Guardian, convened at the portal in Argent Glade, Silverwood for two hours of closing rifts. The event went well from an organisation standpoint, we figured out how form up and edit the raid line-up and use the target marking, etc, etc. I have adapted to it ...

Expert Rift! | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2011/03/27/expert-rift
March 27, 2011. This weekend, TDS decided to try a few Expert Rifts, using the Malformed Souls that had been dropping from various T1 dungeon runs during the last two weeks. So we formed up a rather strong contingent (14 players for 5-man encounters) and set off to Stillmoor to find ourselves a tear. Expert Rifts can only be spawned at regular minor and major tears, not Raid Tears. Expert Death Rift (Stillmoor). Expert Life Rift (Stillmoor). The first part of stage three was Dullan Vie, 160K health, whos...

The Dying Sun – Guild Leaders 2007-present day | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2010/01/18/the-dying-sun-guild-leaders-2007-present-day
The Dying Sun – Guild Leaders 2007-present day. January 18, 2010. The Dying Sun has been around long before I joined in late 2007. In that time I have spent time with many great people. The following is a list of short bios for each of the Guild Leaders that I have served with over the last 27 months. In upcoming instalments I will introduce the Officers. The Dying Sun still operates according to many of the values and principles that Xav originally brought to us. Holder of the largest snowball cache on ...

Perah’Celsis strategy | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2010/08/21/perahcelsis-strategy
August 21, 2010. This is the standard mode boss of Perah’Celsis’ Abominable Labs and an encounter that has it’s fair share of challenges. On the plus side there is only one mob to deal with (there is potential to get more but this invariably means a wipe). We would estimate that the critical multiplier for Perah’celsis is about 1.9, meaning that 90% Critical Mitigation would be required to offset all crit damage. Perah’Celsis will do the following:. Attempt to set his pet dragon onto you:. Perah’Ce...

Raid Wrap – April 30th | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2011/05/02/raid-wrap-april-30th
Raid Wrap – April 30th. May 2, 2011. Raid 3 – 22nd April. Akala, Baron Kevic. Next up, Baron Kevic who was quickly and easily dispensed with before we headed into Greenscale’s Blight for another appointment with Duke Letareus. We made some great improvements on the Duke, moving through two kite phases and getting him to 38% on our best attempt, where we were also tracking well against the enrage timer before the ground borne fairies did us in. Oh and the most significant update? Raid 4 – 23rd April.

About | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/about
Come sit around the tavern table and grab yourself an ale. And listen with sadness in your hearts of a truly woeful tale. About a rat who left Freeport with lofty dreams. Of becoming Norrath’s scourge. But ended up as a limp-wristed mouse. Known as Scarletto the Wimpy Dirge. No dagger or cudgel that Scarletto could muster. Inflicted more damage than a pink feather duster. She practised her piercing, she worked on her slashing. Each and every week. She tried to create a blood curdling howl. It will cover ...

Raid Wrap – May 8th | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/raid-wrap-may-8th-2011
Raid Wrap – May 8th. May 9, 2011. Mother’s Day weekend is always a challenge for raiding but we managed to produce a pretty solid turnout on both days. Expert Fire Rift, Expert Life Rift, Baron Krevic. Expert Death Rift, Expert Life Rift, Air Raid Rift. Duke Letareus: 6,197. Two giant tempests, called Wind of Chaos, which were tank and spank providing the frontal cleave was avoided. A dragon, Ruciath with 1.3MM hitpoints and a considerable frontal cleave plus some adds and a knockback. The damage...Havin...

Cucumber sandwiches with Alsbeth the Discordant | The Wimpy Dirge
https://thewimpydirge.wordpress.com/2011/04/19/cucumber-sandwiches-with-alsbeth-the-discordant
Cucumber sandwiches with Alsbeth the Discordant. April 19, 2011. Akala, Baron Kevic, Life Rift Raid. Boilon rounded up the adds, and we toasted them along with Akala for a first pull win. Life Raid Rift Growth of the Aelfwar. A giant wolf, Caine the Wild, which spawned four elite strength wolf adds at 75%, 50% and 25% – pretty much tank and spank if you can round up the adds and stop them eating your healers. After we finished distributing the loot, we headed back into Endless Citadel to zone into Greens...
