Highbrow Scribbles: The Steelers are not (the) Saints.....
http://commondocket.blogspot.com/2010/04/steelers-are-not-saints.html
Monday, April 12, 2010. The Steelers are not (the) Saints. But every lousy bum ought to be released. I listened to and read the current Steeler quarterback's statement today regarding his potential sexual assault culpability in Georgia - and my conclusion is that he needs to go. Every lawyer-concocted sentence in his speech was just another blubbery, gum-flapping excuse for bad behavior, empty promise of change, and a shield from making any further incriminating statements or admissions. Whether you like...

Highbrow Scribbles: July 2009

Friday, July 31, 2009. Is the Bar Exam Really Over? This was the single most humbling experience of my life. What I'm realizing now is that the tests were actually the easy part. While you are taking the test, the time flies by, your mind is overflowing with legal rules, and the adrenaline compels you to finish. But now that I'm done, what do I do until I find out whether I passed in October? How do I stop rehashing the questions in my mind? What if I didn't use a #2 pencil to fill in the ovals? Four yea...

Highbrow Scribbles: December 2009
http://commondocket.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 5, 2009. Here they are at three days old. Wow. Wednesday, December 2, 2009. The twins are born. Jacob and Mary were born two minutes apart at 8:48 and 8:50 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 1st. And now that the euphoria is somewhat over after having witnessed two miracles in the span of 18 minutes, I am already wanting to take my family home. Will be posting pictures when I get a chance to take some good ones. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I've always gotten hung up on introductions.

Highbrow Scribbles: Thank you, Melanie.
http://commondocket.blogspot.com/2010/06/thank-you-melanie.html
Saturday, June 19, 2010. Thank you, Melanie. I haven't posted much because too much is going on in real life to even begin to summarize on this blog. However, I really do need to take a moment and thank my wife for my father's day gift (which was given early). Ever since I was in high school, I have wanted one of those fancy green shrouded, brass desk lamps for my hand-made roll-top desk. Well today I got one; a beautiful one. Thank you, Melanie. Monday, August 23, 2010. I recorded my wife singing a song at our easter vigil.and I'm only just now getting it out there for all to hear. I hope she's not embarrassed :). Highbrow Scribbles: Another hero falls with a thud.
http://commondocket.blogspot.com/2010/01/another-hero-falls-with-thud.html
Monday, January 11, 2010. Another hero falls with a thud. Mark McGuire admitted today that he used steroids. He also admitted that he withheld this information from even his own wife and son. What a disgrace. So now, as I raise my son, what story do I tell him? Son, the home run record has an asterisk because in my era of baseball, men used drugs to hit the ball further.". Highbrow Scribbles: September 2009
http://commondocket.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Have ultra conservatives become robots? I am almost laughing a cartoonish insane cackle as I read headlines today that conservatives are upset over Obama's speech to schoolchildren as the education season kicks off. Before I even open the first article documenting the horrors of Obama's speech, I try to imagine a single reason why this speech could be objectionable. I came up empty. You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? Thinking about my...

Highbrow Scribbles: October 2009
http://commondocket.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 8, 2009. I am just thankful that I got through it, and I really couldn't have done it without everyone around me. Most of all, I couldn't have gotten through each year without my wife, Melanie. I don't have time to go into my history of academia, but it certainly wasn't a flowery story. But now, I can look over my shoulder at what I've done and know that I completed what I set out to do. Looking forward never felt so good. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
