Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher

Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher. Education, politics, and anything else that catches my attention. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. If you're not strong enough to handle an opinion with which you disagree, perhaps you're not strong enough to attend college. Seriously, let's quit pretending that "safe spaces", "microaggressions", "trigger warnings", and other molly-coddling experiences have any justification or usefulness among real adults. Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher. Education, politics, and anything else that catches my attention. Friday, August 07, 2015. Teachers, have you ever had any professional development that was genuinely worth the time or money spent on it? The 50 largest school districts in America collectively spend $8 billion a year on professional development for teachers. What are they getting out of it? Here’s what they found:. Props where props are due: Once. It was a day in which variou...

Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher. Education, politics, and anything else that catches my attention. Monday, August 10, 2015. Professional Development day today. Another day of it tomorrow. On Wednesday we have the day to get our classrooms ready, and Thursday the kids show up. If nothing else, I'll be busy Wednesday! Today, though, we were supposed to start creating "curriculum maps" for our courses. What is a curriculum map, you ask? What does it include? Just a couple years ago.

Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher: My Morality

http://rightontheleftcoast.blogspot.com/2015/08/my-morality.html

Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher. Education, politics, and anything else that catches my attention. Tuesday, August 04, 2015. I'm reading a book called The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided By Politics And Religion. And took one of the surveys to see which foundations I base my morals on, and I'm not at all surprised at the results. My results match up pretty well with those of other conservatives. Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher: When Should AP Tests Count at College?

http://rightontheleftcoast.blogspot.com/2015/05/when-should-ap-tests-count-at-college.html

Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher. Education, politics, and anything else that catches my attention. Thursday, May 21, 2015. When Should AP Tests Count at College? AP tests have been around for quite some time, so you'd think there might be some consistency by now about how they're used to allow students to validate college classes. In Illinois the concerns about consistency are both academic. AP credit could cost colleges and universities lost tuition from those students who can...

Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher: Yet Another Obamacare Fail

http://rightontheleftcoast.blogspot.com/2015/05/yet-another-obamacare-fail.html

Right on the Left Coast: Views From a Conservative Teacher. Education, politics, and anything else that catches my attention. Friday, May 15, 2015. Yet Another Obamacare Fail. This time in his home state of Hawaii. Federal taxpayers dumped more than $205 million into Hawaii's ObamaCare insurance exchange, but after a steady downward spiral the once-highly praised Hawaii Health Connector is on life support. Notice how they pulled the same stunt with the trade bill as well.) By doing that, the Democrat...

May 06, 2009. But what happens when the structure is loosened up? Have you ever transplanted a plant from a smaller to a larger pot, or into the ground? http://ringrosefamily.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

The Ringrose Family Adventures. Wednesday, September 7, 2011. The cat is out of the bag! That's right, we're pregnant again! Specifically, I'm 12 weeks and 1 day pregnant. The baby is due March 20. All is well so far! We saw the baby's heartbeat at 7 and 10 weeks. It was amazing how much the baby developed in those three weeks! At 7 weeks, the ultrasound kind of just looked like a banana, but at 10 weeks, we could really see the baby! In fact, it kicked while we were watching it! It was truly wonderful.

The 3 Rs of Education: Respect, Reality, Reason: grades and accountability

http://3rseduc.blogspot.com/2014/05/grades-and-accountability.html

The 3 Rs of Education: Respect, Reality, Reason. Wednesday, May 14, 2014. How can grades both matter and not matter when attendance takes precedence? In another school I worked in, I had two students, let's call them John and Joe. John was a mainstreamed special ed student and Joe was your regular old class clown. Both ended up with C grades at the end of the semester and both had angry mothers. He earned a C rightfully. I saw his progress reports and work samples! This is why we left the school! If you ...

Right on the Left Coast. On The Road Again. One of the things that Washington, DC is known for, other than corruption in government and a spectacularly high crime rate [1]. Is how difficult it is to drive there. It is congested [2]. The layout is baffling, and its famous DuPont Circle is a notorious example of an intersection to be avoided at all costs. You heard correctly; this poor guy is facing half a year in jail for accidentally getting too close to the royal heirs. With the extravagant vacations, h...
