The Healing Nest Blog Archive. December 2006 - September 2008). Monday, July 28, 2008. This last Sunday I offered "Writing from Your Body," the first workshop in my "A Year of Living in Your Body". I want to send a scrumptious thank you out to my participants! You were sensorily-activated, bodily-focused, and creatively-ignited writerly rock stars! Lvis is a bowl in my body, catching the contents of my desires- a bowl to catch my heart when it drops." I think there's a poem hidden in there. And feel free...

http://oriart.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 28, 2010. I love how art can become reincarnated. I created this piece above with Ms. Artist B at her home studio many months ago and now it reappears with some new elements for a new purpose. Not me for sure. Our text for the class).* I told them I'd create an art piece, too. As soon as I agreed to participate, my body felt a little lighter and my heart said "Courtney, you get to create art! If you're curious, the assignment was to respond to this essay. Links to this post. Mixed media...

Monday, August 31, 2009. On wood w/embedded coffee grounds. I always make a mess when I add coffee grounds to my encaustics. But I love the effect. The most accurate and tidiest way to incorporate coffee grounds into wax paintings is to glue them to the substrate first and then add the wax. However, what I. I mention all of this to come out as an imperfect, messy, inaccurate artist. I tend not. That will take forever! How do you create? Links to this post. Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Encaustic, 10" x 12".

Sunday, June 27, 2010. To Stay or Not to Stay. I need your advice. I'm thinking of retiring this blog and just keeping one blog for all my musings. Here are my considerations:. Saturday, December 26, 2009. Stepping Inside the Painting. Encaustic, 11" x 14". I encountered these two quotations after creating the piece above and both speak to my artistic process for this encaustic specifically:. When you start a painting, it is somewhat outside you. At the conclusion, you seem to move inside the painting.". I tasted the title in my mouth.). These hues of blue and orange are new to me. I may have used them separately, but not together. And at first I wasn't sure I liked the...I lik...

The Healing Nest: October 2009

Monday, October 19, 2009. Mixed media collage by Courtney Putnam. Sometimes a change in seasons - particularly the transition from a season of light, like summer, to seasons of coolness and gray, like fall and winter- can bring with it a feeling stagnation for me: a sort of happiness limbo. It's like happiness is there in moments, but it can be shaded by the shadow of dark nights and falling leaves. Now I love fall (did I just write that? Julia Cameron has a sweet little book aptly called Transitions.

Alternative Seattle: Massage Therapy: Courtney Putnam
http://alt-seattle.blogspot.com/2006/09/massage-therapy-courtney-putnam.html
A website that clues you in on the people to see and the place to go for services that are just a bit out of the mainstream. Massage Therapy: Courtney Putnam. Courtney has had some horror stories. One of her practice massages during school had a man who didn’t understand the usual massage protocol. When she opened the door to the room, there he was naked and sitting on top of the sheets. Um, Um, why don’t you get under the sheet? Is massage for everyone? Posted by The Editor @ 8:34 PM. This blog is a coo...
