Re-foresting a small piece of New Zealand
Kauri – Room to Grow
https://roomtogrownz.wordpress.com/2014/02/05/kauri
Re-foresting a small piece of New Zealand. February 5, 2014. February 5, 2014. One of the things that we’ve had to get our head around during this whole process is that by returning the land from farmland to native bush we’re actually devaluing it. There are very few places in NZ where you can see virgin Kauri forest. One of these places is right on our doorstep the Waipoua Forest. Driving through the Waipoua Forest. A tree in the Waipoua, dead from Kauri Dieback. Sign at the entrance of a forest walk.
June 2014 – Room to Grow
https://roomtogrownz.wordpress.com/2014/06
Re-foresting a small piece of New Zealand. June 7, 2014. Last weekend, we planted our very first tree! Our very first tree, planted! One down, only about twenty million to go. In our little nursery back home in Auckland 40 plants can look like a lot, but when we took them to the land and started to lay them out they only covered the smallest little corner! The solar panel goes on. June 2, 2014. So how has accidentally joining the Tiny House movement made me think differently about our cabin? Right now th...
Our Home Nursery – Room to Grow
https://roomtogrownz.wordpress.com/2014/01/27/our-home-nursery
Re-foresting a small piece of New Zealand. January 27, 2014. January 27, 2014. In October, my Dad built us a plant nursery in our garden in the city. Because home for us is a 3-hour drive from the land, we wanted to be able to get on with propagating seeds and growing trees in our own backyard (or front-yard, as it actually turned out) that we could then transport up to the land when they were ready to plant. Our little home nursery. Going out to the nursery each day when I come home from work to water t...
May 2014 – Room to Grow
https://roomtogrownz.wordpress.com/2014/05
Re-foresting a small piece of New Zealand. May 3, 2014. So that will finally be sprayed back this week. But the best news is the electric fences held up beautifully, no major breakages and the solar battery unit is still pumping out heaps of charge. And they were quite delicious, tasting a bit like a red grape). Kahikatea berries, with black seeds. No luck yet on the Rimu or Kauri but it can take until Spring for them to come away, so we’ll keep waiting patiently. Blackberries and Electric Fences. Blackb...
Totara – Room to Grow
https://roomtogrownz.wordpress.com/2014/01/07/totara
Re-foresting a small piece of New Zealand. January 7, 2014. January 27, 2014. We have them dotted around our paddocks, some individual trees stand alone, but more often they’re found in groups of half a dozen or more. They’re so plentiful, and capable of regeneration on their own that we certainly won’t be propagating or planting any more of them! What we would like to have in a few years is more variation. In particular we want to propagate species like Kauri, Kahikatea and Rimu. Our Home Nursery →.

About us and Bumble. The quest to expand our family. October 23, 2015. Today is the boys due date and marks four weeks since their birth. Wow time really does fly! We’ve been inundated with both visitors and gifts I swear the local courier driver must think we’re running some sort of strange mail operation here with the number of times he’s come to drop stuff off, it’s nearly a daily occurrence! My in-laws have also been amazing, coming over one to two times a week to make us dinner and take over the mid...

25 weeks, 6 days | Waiting For Bumble
https://waitingforbumble.wordpress.com/2015/07/16/25-weeks-6-days
About us and Bumble. The quest to expand our family. July 16, 2015. 25 weeks, 6 days. It’s been a good week. As previously mentioned, work is busy but at least that’s keeping me occupied, our house is slowly getting back into a somewhat tidy state which is nice, I also had a great pregnancy yoga class on Tuesday, followed by a great dinner out with my in-laws on Wednesday. A busy week but a good week. That means the twins aren’t on their way immediately. So what DOES it mean? You can follow any responses...

The drive to ‘true’ viability | Waiting For Bumble
https://waitingforbumble.wordpress.com/2015/08/04/the-drive-to-true-viability
About us and Bumble. The quest to expand our family. August 4, 2015. The drive to ‘true’ viability. It’s the day after I leave the hospital and as previously mentioned I’ve been resting and napping for the last day and a bit. Work have been great and told me to stay home for a few days to put my feet up and recover. My bosses are being so lovely and so flexible and basically allowing me to guide them on what needs to happen. I think this was one time I just needed him to say it). I buy some bits and piec...

About us and Bumble. The quest to expand our family. July 17, 2015. After a fitful, anxiety-ridden sleep (can I even call it sleep? I’m officially awake and it’s time for obs again before starting on my breakfast.it’s not that bad, toast and cereal, but with a bit of a dairy intolerance at the moment chowing down on cornflakes and milk is far from ideal. I’m super hungry though so I do.boy will I regret that later! At least both our boys are ok. Next I get a visit from the midwife who says the ward docs ...

Give us a break! | Waiting For Bumble
https://waitingforbumble.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/give-us-a-break
About us and Bumble. The quest to expand our family. July 24, 2015. Give us a break! I’ll forever be thankful to everyone involved in our treatment and to everyone who has gone before, paving the way for the multitude of infertiles desperate for a family. The majority of the time it’s not a personal attack and if many of them knew the facts around IVF and around adoption, they wouldn’t hold this view. Of course there’s always some for whom it’s unnatural or whatever but hey, you can’t win ‘em all. But it...

Just another WordPress.com site. July 8, 2011. So I we started the week with something lighthearted as well as thought provoking. Now don’t get us wrong, Lawn certainly has it’s place in suitable landscape settings, but we should and can offer more waterwise, lower maintenance and practical options such as:.
