BlackberryJuniper and Sherbet: October 2014
http://blackberryjuniperandsherbet.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 October 2014. Thoughts on a train: strange Russian women, squirrels, unicorns, men.etc. I left the house and thought – ‘yes, well, whatever it doesn’t matter’. There were no histrionics, or my usual pounding sense of incompletion and fear at having been angry. There was just a sense that in this instance at least, I had been right, and that he was being rather silly and unreasonable, and that I was both really pissed off with the whole thing, and really utterly bored. She sat there, a grubb...

BlackberryJuniper and Sherbet: March 2015

Monday, 23 March 2015. Women, Money and Debt in the 18th Century: Part 6 - last part of Amelia's tale. Women, Money and Debt in the 18. Century Novel, Part 6:. Amelia, Section 3. Looking at the prevailing obsession with money, the getting and managing of it (and what happens when you can’t pay your debts), in eighteenth century English literature – with specific reference to female heroines in Daniel Defoe’s Roxana (1724). Henry Fielding’s Amelia (1751). And Fanny Burney’s Cecilia (1782). Http:/ blackber...

Monday, 27 April 2015. Doctor Who Books Read and Heard, Part 17! This post: treats from the eras of the 1. A note on order. Target Originals are not read in order of publication (which was all over the place), but in order of each Doctor, and each Doctor is read in order of their stories broadcast on TV. However, I jump about in terms of which Doctor I read at any given time. The Virgin New Adventures for Sylvester will be read in order; as will the BBC 8. I’m trying to get an arc flavour). And it has a ...

BlackberryJuniper and Sherbet: BJ's EWTBCD Guest Season - A Poem from my friend Ryan
http://blackberryjuniperandsherbet.blogspot.com/2015/07/bjs-ewtbcd-guest-season-poem-from-my.html
Saturday, 11 July 2015. BJ's EWTBCD Guest Season - A Poem from my friend Ryan. Song of sea grows. Smooth face glide on. Wise and fools all. Fleet on the sea. Just a quick end note:. Ryan is an Asatruar, a modern follower of the Norse, Scandinavian and Germanic Gods. They have one of the strongest moral codes I have ever read, and I admire it much. My own eclectic approach has not found its moral precepts bettered, anywhere. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). James Bond films and books, Part 1!

BlackberryJuniper and Sherbet: December 2014
http://blackberryjuniperandsherbet.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 December 2014. TBR Challenge 2015 - Pagan Style. Just when you thought you'd seen the last of me from 2014, here I am again. Well, it is. The other side - Christmas is over, and the spacious plains and meadows of 2015 loom. Pathways, crossroads, new things, old ghosts. I still like the whole New Years vibe. By this time of year, the old year is starting to run out of steam, and the new year is starting to catch hold of me. Has it, is that you pick 12 books plus 2 alternates. Obviously I w...

Friday, 3 July 2015. BJ's EWTBCD Guest Season Continues! The Tripods', by my friend John! Now, I have been having a mad busy fortnight, so the Guest Season is slightly extended. This is fine, because we are all having such a fun time with it! My friend John's previous entry here, on the Rise and Fall of the Ferengi. No waiting any longer! The dodgy series 2! The Bad Guys Won: The Tripods on TV. The ‘cap’ is a piece of technology attached to the head that the Tripods use to control the populat...Will and ...

BlackberryJuniper and Sherbet: January 2015

Monday, 26 January 2015. A Very English Protest: Anti Fracking Demo at Parliament Square, Monday 26th Jan 2015. I met several extremely nice people at the demo, as soon as I got there. I had trouble finding it to begin with, as I assumed it would be directly on Parliament Square on the grass, instead of off to the side infront of the Houses of Parliament side bit. I followed other people who were on their way to or coming from it. Friends of the Earth. A nice toddler level of disagreement, I felt. A poli...

BlackberryJuniper and Sherbet: Overthinking Harlequin, and other American romances, Part 3!
http://blackberryjuniperandsherbet.blogspot.com/2015/07/overthinking-harlequin-and-other.html
Monday, 20 July 2015. Overthinking Harlequin, and other American romances, Part 3! A very beautiful GREEN cover for a good author who can still knock them out when she's of a mind. A terrible lurid cover for what is one of the kindest, and most heartwarming books I've read in ages. This post has been coming a little while now, and since the last entry in my Guest Season isn't ready yet, I thought I would put it up now, as a return to the usual subject matter of what I. I liked the hero Rourke, very much.

BlackberryJuniper and Sherbet: July 2015

Monday, 27 July 2015. James Bond films and books, Part 1! I decided to add another marathon to my neverending list. It just popped into my head one day, that I spent all my childhood Bank Holidays and Christmases watching Bond films with my dad (and lesserly, mum), and on and off to this day, I still think of them as a special treat and still associate them with holidays. If a new one comes out at the cinema, it’s STILL a big deal, for me. As a child, I don’t remember what I thought of Bond himself.

Friday, 28 November 2014. Dylan Moran: Some Things With Him In. Things With Dylan Moran In…that aren’t Black Books. Or Shaun of the Dead. He’s an Irish comedian and actor I’ve been following for ages, as I love his quirkiness and I love his vagueness, as well as his flights of weird fancy. He made his mark over here in the UK with Black Books. With Bill Bailey and Tamsin Grieg) which is marvellous; and also his appearance as an arsehole boyfriend famously torn to pieces, in Shaun of the Dead. I’m a...
