Reflections through my lens: Cinemagic!
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2012/09/cinemagic.html
Reflections through my lens. Monday, September 17, 2012. Film buffs are ditching long queues at the cinema to watch movies online. This continues to be debated in India due to internet bandwidth issues and online piracy. But is it just that which still makes 28% of Indian adults go to the cinema halls*? Beyond the Dolby digital effects, there is more to the experience of going to watch movies in theatres. 8220;Which is the latest movie that you have seen? Or have been downloading from the net? Yesterday,...

Reflections through my lens: I wonder what you do...
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-wonder-what-you-do.html
Reflections through my lens. Sunday, February 27, 2011. I wonder what you do. 8220;I wonder what do you do on weekends? This is probably the most common question I have faced after. 8220;Which movies did you see recently? Others that follow are:. 8220;Don’t you get bored living on your own; do you have a big gang of friends to hang around with? It’s not just about asking these questions, single people can also be taken for granted in line with the same assumption. Last moment invitations like. Sure, we a...

Reflections through my lens: Facebook vs Face-to-Face
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2012/02/facebook-vs-face-to-face.html
Reflections through my lens. Sunday, February 5, 2012. News headlines and ad campaigns like “Prolonged use of social networking sites makes people unhealthy”,. 8220;Hamaare zamaane mein log facebook pe nahin, face to face baatein karte they”,. Or closer to home, my aunt complaining “nowadays I get to know about you only from my daughter through your facebook updates” are just examples of the widespread notion that social networking sites are making people unhealthy and unsocial. 8220;ghar ghar ki kahani.

Reflections through my lens: November 2014
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Reflections through my lens. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Do the stars get it right? As per a UNICEF. 2 years back, 90% of marriages in India are arranged. Most of the hindu arranged marriages begin with the kundali matching as the first step as this system is considered the perfect way to predict a successful marriage. We can accordingly imagine the magnitude of the kundali matching industry. For the uninitiated, please refer to the description of gun milan. To understand the concept. What I was more cu...

Reflections through my lens: On the road...
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2010/12/on-road.html
Reflections through my lens. Wednesday, December 29, 2010. 8220;Maximum accidents happen due to jumping traffic signals”, “Road rage on the rise”. As the New Year celebrations approach, the newspapers will be full of such stats. Reading them makes one feel that people who drive cars are the biggest evil on the roads. Of all the millions of car drivers, not all are drunk and rowdy. What makes the prim and proper executive rash on the road? 30 minutes more than the usual time and the time bomb starts ticki...

Reflections through my lens: February 2014
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Reflections through my lens. Saturday, February 22, 2014. And one for the Mrs. After the initial shock, I brushed it off as something that perhaps still resides in a certain economic strata. After all, the women around me have moved on from the evident stamps of wearing a chooda, sindoor. To declare their marital status to the world. They don’t even change their surnames after marriage. It only has an option of Mrs or. Hindi title for adult married female) for a woman resident. Unmarried). Perhaps si...

http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2011/05/shell-always-be-that-special-one.html
Reflections through my lens. Sunday, May 1, 2011. She'll always be a special one. The memory of those expressions still makes me smile. Its only when she moved to Delhi with them that she began to accept me as a part of “her“family. Our pet Labrador passed away peacefully last week after 13 years of a healthy and happy life. May God bless her soul. She gave us immense love and happiness and will always remain a special one…. Posted by Ruchira Garg. May 1, 2011 at 10:41 PM. May 2, 2011 at 8:43 AM. 8220;10...

Reflections through my lens: The Little Packages of Goodness
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-little-packages-of-goodness.html
Reflections through my lens. Tuesday, June 4, 2013. The Little Packages of Goodness. Last week I went to watch a movie with my mum and while coming out she needed some help to walk down the slope. A young man standing next to her noticed her extending her hand to seek support and kindly held her hand and helped her get down the slope amongst the jostling crowd. A friend recently posted on FB that she was proud of her husband helping someone who had a heart attack in a restaurant where they were dining.

Reflections through my lens: Such a Long Journey...
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2010/11/such-long-journey.html
Reflections through my lens. Saturday, November 20, 2010. Such a Long Journey. Travel time again- pack your bags, check everything, lock the house. All the signs of travel anxiety begin to crop up as soon as I sit in the cab for the airport. The journey mostly turns out to be an impersonal experience. Am lucky if I manage to speak a few words to other people in the check-in queue, otherwise it’s the mundane routine 1 hour of waiting at the airport with a cup of cappuccino and my phone. With the economic ...

Reflections through my lens: The Inheritance of Fear
http://ruchiragarg.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-inheritance-of-fear_20.html
Reflections through my lens. Sunday, January 20, 2013. The Inheritance of Fear. Yesterday, a friend’s facebook status talked about her turning into a paranoid parent who is afraid to trust anyone. This was a reaction to the news of a 4 year old being raped by her school bus conductor. I could not agree with her more. Every morning, the plethora of murders, rapes and robberies reported only adds to the fear. Yes we need a Good Samaritan law but we also need regular positive reinforcement to reinstate our ...
