Examining the wonder of raising children and the simple joys of everyday life. Tuesday, January 04, 2011. Looking at the World with New Eyes – Part 1. I’m looking at the world with new eyes and it’s not what I want to do. I want to look around me in trust and peace and with the general idea that there are good things out there, good people, but something is in the way. Something has happened, you see, something that makes it all different. Why do I have to witness this? Go to Part 2. I seek to inspire an...

Introspective Insights: Know More, Love More
http://introspecinsights.blogspot.com/2013/12/know-more-love-more.html
Examining the wonder of raising children and the simple joys of everyday life. Tuesday, December 03, 2013. Know More, Love More. Tonight I co-hosted a table at our church’s Advent by Candlelight event - a time to focus on Jesus, the true meaning of the season. As I looked around the table at the women – some I had just met tonight – others I have had the honor of getting to know over the last several months – I was impressed with God’s love for them moving through me. It was hard work, but significant.

Introspective Insights: Subtle Deception
http://introspecinsights.blogspot.com/2014/01/subtle-deception.html
Examining the wonder of raising children and the simple joys of everyday life. Friday, January 31, 2014. I finally started reading my first C.S. Lewis book –. I’ve often wanted to read his classic works about Christianity and haven’t had the chance. I’m only a few chapters into this tale of a senior demon mentoring a junior demon and am struck with the simple deceptions used against humans. How many lies have we believed in this life? I’m ugly, stupid, no one could love me. I’m afraid of . And we know th...

Introspective Insights: August 2013
http://introspecinsights.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Examining the wonder of raising children and the simple joys of everyday life. Monday, August 26, 2013. It is the end of August and we are holding desperately to the last days of summer. We sat by the fire last night and in the twilight and flickering fire, I studied these three faces of ours. I couldn’t take my eyes off Kayla. Freckled face, long hair spilling down her shoulders, eyes fixed on a book, legs curled up into the chair. Letting them go free – hours from home, in undiscovered places. I rememb...

Introspective Insights: November 2013
http://introspecinsights.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Examining the wonder of raising children and the simple joys of everyday life. Saturday, November 30, 2013. Holding on to Gratitude. Thanksgiving was a couple of days ago here in the United States and I’ve discovered that with each passing year, this holiday becomes more and more my favorite. Most other holidays have a commercial component to them now and each one involves gifts except for Thanksgiving. Even though each year Thanksgiving grows on me on a bit, this year I think I finally understood why.

Introspective Insights: February 2014
http://introspecinsights.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Examining the wonder of raising children and the simple joys of everyday life. Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Valentine’s Day was few days ago and as I perused Facebook, I saw many posts by people whom I love and respect that fly in the face of traditional and superficial Valentine’s gifts. These posts focused on the sacrificial giving of one person to another as husband and wife and how giving the gift of each other and caring for children was truly what love meant to them. I believe that people who give V...

Kal in Space: On Public Smoking Bans
http://kalinspace.blogspot.com/2009/01/on-public-smoking-bans.html
ALL YOUR KAL ARE BELONG IN SPACE). Friday, January 23, 2009. On Public Smoking Bans. Along the politics theme that I've been going on, another post. I've determined recently that I'm not as conservative as I thought I was during 2008. A couple things have helped me to realize this, but chief among them are certain laws that are enacted for public health reasons. At 1/23/2009 02:12:00 PM. Alexandria, VA, United States. Kal in Space: A Few Thoughts on Pluto
http://kalinspace.blogspot.com/2009/03/few-thoughts-on-pluto.html
ALL YOUR KAL ARE BELONG IN SPACE). Monday, March 16, 2009. A Few Thoughts on Pluto. The dog. No, just kidding. I read this article. On space.com today about Pluto's planetary status. In particular, it discusses the continuing debate on whether Pluto deserved to lose it's status as the 9th planet in our solar system. In 2006 there was outrage when the International Astronomical Union (IAU) declared that there are 8 planets in our solar system, and that Pluto was now called a "dwarf planet.". Subscribe in ...

Examining the wonder of raising children and the simple joys of everyday life. Thursday, July 14, 2011. Kayla and I went to the park in the woods today. She played on the playscape a bit and then we both decided to swing on the old, sturdy, metal swing set – the kind they had when I was a kid. Posted by Jennifer Powell.
